Job summary

OnPay is seeking an AI Enabler to lead adoption of agentic AI tooling and improve developer experience across the Payments team. The role balances hands-on engineering with enablement leadership and aims to raise velocity and quality through a scalable toolchain.

You will work with Architects, Tech Leads, and Product Managers, define standards, and mentor teammates while operating with high autonomy in a fast-moving space.

Qualifications

• Hands-on software engineer with 5+ years in web/backend systems.
• Proven experience with agentic AI development tools in production.
• Ability to design developer experience improvements and tooling.
• Strong practices in testing, code review, and observability.
• Comfort working across stack; PHP is a plus for OnPay codebase.
• Experience with MCP servers, agent frameworks, and prompt engineering.
• Teaching mindset with ability to pair, mentor, and document.

Responsibilities

• Enable the team by embedding agentic workflows across planning, development, QA, and production monitoring.
• Own the agentic toolchain: select, configure, and maintain the AI stack and guardrails.
• Stay on the forefront: test new tools and translate findings into action.
• Redesign workflows around agent-assisted sprints and MR review.
• Ensure compliance: PCI/regulatory alignment and proper audit trails.
• Spread the practice: document learnings and coach other teams.
• Documentation and knowledge capture for AI tooling and processes.
• Hands-on contribution: build tooling and developer experience improvements.
• Measure and iterate: track velocity, quality, and incident metrics.
