This role requires 3 days per week in the office and is based in London, Munich or Berlin.

Personio is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Legal Counsel focused at the cross‑section of product, privacy and emerging AI legal issues. You will report into the Senior Lead Counsel (Product & Privacy) and will play a key role in shaping and scaling Personio’s product offering, in particular bridging the gap between legal expertise and technical expertise. Create real value with your subject‑matter expertise. Tackle interesting challenges and partner closely with departments across Personio to drive operational excellence. You will advise our product and engineering teams by proactively identifying legal risks including privacy, product, regulatory, IP and provide solution‑focused mitigations to support innovation at Personio.

You will support the implementation of “privacy by design” and “responsible AI principles” acting as a translator between legal reasoning and technical design.

You will provide legal support on highly technical requests relating to the development of AI products and the internal use of AI tools, becoming an expert in AI legal matters to help propose and advance AI strategy positions.

You will support cross‑functional company‑wide privacy projects and support day‑to‑day product & privacy queries.

You will develop and improve processes for scaling legal support aligned with company growth.

Legal Expertise: You're a qualified lawyer with 7+ years of experience at a law firm or in‑house at a tech company, specializing in product counselling and privacy compliance.

Tech‑Focused Legal Advisory: You have advanced experience advising on legal issues impacting technology companies, including privacy, artificial intelligence, commercial law, intellectual property, and emerging regulations across the EU and UK.

Technical Curiosity: You bring strong technical curiosity or background—engineering experience or a genuine passion for technology and AI is highly valued and will help you thrive in this role.

Complex Legal Analysis: You quickly analyze complex legal issues, evaluate key risks, prioritize effectively, and make clear recommendations with a customer‑first mindset.

Project Management in Fast‑Paced Environments: You excel at managing multiple workstreams simultaneously in dynamic, fast‑paced settings while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.

Process Automation & Innovation: You proactively identify and execute opportunities to automate legal processes, driving efficiency and scalability across the team.

At Personio, we value in‑person collaboration while also offering flexibility. This role is office‑based, with 3 days per week required in your contracted office location. The remaining days can be worked from home or in the office if you prefer. In addition, you’ll have 20 Flex Days per year to work remotely from other locations.
