Preventative Maintenance Technician
The Preventative Maintenance Technician position is a mid-level position that is responsible for acting in a safe manner, while leading electrical projects, assisting with project management and providing technical/electrical support and repairs to the various machinery found in the production areas and the equipment that is found within the building and systems.
Responsibilities
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for troubleshooting all plant maintenance issues during shift, as requested.
- Provides timely repairs, upkeep, and preventative maintenance.
- Ensures that adequate repair parts are stocked.
- Uses MRO system for removing and returning parts from inventory.
- Makes recommendations for equipment improvements.
- Assists with set-ups, start-ups, and qualifications.
- Strives for continuous improvement of equipment.
- Serves as an example for housekeeping and safety standards.
- Ensures that scheduled PMs are performed and recorded per the Service Work Order.
- Responsible for entering all Work Order Requests into automated tracking system.
- Responsible for accurate recordkeeping and reporting of Work Order Request information.
- Responsible for troubleshooting molding process-making adjustments to the machine and auxiliary equipment to produce quality parts.
- Responsible for troubleshooting machines-making sure machines are functioning properly to produce quality parts.
- Responsible for troubleshooting auxiliary equipment-making sure all equipment is functioning properly to produce quality parts.
- Answer alarms on machines.
- Responsible for mold setup and removal.
- Responsible for mold and machine maintenance.
- Interacts with Production Management, Human Resources, Quality Control, Warehouse, and Tool Room.
- Experience in industrial maintenance with skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLC.
- Capable of fabrication and design.
- Proficient in the use of computers, especially in a work order tracking system and an MRO system.
- Able to use automated scanning equipment.
- Can troubleshoot and correct complex mechanical machine issues.
- Can verify air pressures by gauge, water temp by gauge, and water pressure by gauge.
- Can detect a water leak at the molds and nozzle and react correctly.
- Can detect an oil leak within a processing machine and prevent product contamination.
- Can detect an air leak and identify general location.
- Working knowledge of material load system and troubleshooting problems with the load system.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Ability to provide guidance and leadership to peers and production personnel.
- 3-5 years experience in a high-speed assembly production environment as a maintenance mechanic.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated knowledge of troubleshooting and experience in electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and PLCs.
- Forklift certification-The ability to operate a forklift in a safe manner consistent with OSHA standards.
- Must know and follow all GMP procedures.
- Must be able to work safely and follow Safety Rules and procedures.
- Must be able to effectively respond in an emergency situation such as fire or accident and direct the activities of others.
- All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of experience as an Electrical Technician.
- 3+ years of experience around maintenance mechanics.
- 1+ years of experience participating in Continuous Improvement projects.
- Must have the ability to multi-task.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
- Must be able to monitor quality of machine output.
- Capable of lifting (up to 35 pounds).
- Able to work in a production environment, recognizing various sounds and alarms.
- Must be able to follow all department procedures and directives.
- Must be able to perform all duties in a safe and effective manner.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Associate’s degree in Engineering/Engineering Technology.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Effective presentation methods and skills.
- Ability to think resourcefully and strategically.
