We are looking for a Senior COBOL Developer (m / f / d) for our IT & Digital Competence Center in Mannheim or Fürth. This position is limited until May 2026.

• Further development of our existing applications to optimize the COBOL processes and system landscape
• Analysis of customer requirements and creation of a development concept
• Development and maintenance of applications with a focus on WMS (order picking, inventory, stock bookings)
• Support for our users in our European branches as part of 3rd level support
• Evaluation and establishment of new technologies to continuously optimize our development tools
• Leading discussions on technical solutions to solve complex technical challenges in the mainframe area.

• Degree in (business) informatics or comparable sound IT training
• Knowledge and experience in software development using COBOL on mainframe environments (IBM z / VSE 6.2, CICS / TS 1.1.1, COBOL FOR VSE / ESA 1.1. 1, VSAM) or many years of COBOL experience
• Many years of experience in software programming in the WMS environment (stock bookings, picking, inventory processes) are an advantage
• Strong analytical skills, independent, structured and quality-oriented way of working
• Ability to coordinate and strong understanding of user needs
• Good written and spoken German and English skills
• Good knowledge of software architecture and enterprise frameworks.
• JAVA knowledge is an advantage
