Job summary

Synapticon GmbH in Schönaich is seeking a motivated Validation & Testing Intern (ideally 6 months, mandatory internship) to join our team close to Stuttgart. You’ll work on encoder accuracy, model-based control algorithms, and rapid prototyping hardware.

You’ll design testbenches, validate algorithms on hardware and in simulation, and contribute to data-driven decisions across hardware, firmware, and control teams. Flexible start date and a focus on hands-on learning are offered.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a BSc/MSc in a relevant field.
• Hands-on test setup experience in hardware or lab.
• Solid understanding of control systems, sensors and embedded systems.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink or Python is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform performance validation and quality control of encoder systems.
• Design, build and operate testbenches for hardware and control validation.
• Validate model-based control algorithms on simulation and hardware.
• Support motion control feature development and system validation.
• Analyze test data and document results for engineering decisions.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a motivated Validation & Testing Intern (ideally 6 months, mandatory internship) to join our Validation & Testing team in Schönaich (close to Stuttgart), with a flexible start date. If you want to see how real motion control systems perform outside of simulation — from encoder accuracy to model-based control algorithms on rapid prototyping hardware — this internship puts you right at the heart of our development process.

HERE'S WHERE YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

• Perform performance validation and quality control of integrated encoder systems — the measurements that tell us whether a product delivers the precision it promises

• Design, build, and operate testbenches for hardware and control algorithm validation, creating the setups that turn open questions into reliable data

• Validate model-based control algorithms in simulation and on hardware using rapid control prototyping systems (e.g., Speedgoat), closing the gap between model and real-world behaviour

• Support motion control feature development and system-level product validation — making sure new functions work as intended before they reach customers

• Analyse test data and document results clearly, providing the basis for development decisions across hardware, firmware, and control teams

WHO YOU ARE

• Enrolled BSc/MSc student in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related field

• Good mechanical intuition and hands-on machining experience — you’re comfortable building and adjusting your own test setups

• Basic understanding of control systems, sensors, and embedded systems, and genuine interest in how they perform under real conditions

• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or similar simulation tools is a plus

• You work in a structured, detail-oriented way and enjoy spending time in the lab
