Synapticon is looking for a motivated Robot Simulation Intern in Schönaich to join the Robotics team for ideally 6 months. You will work on building physics-accurate robot models, making real impacts on humanoid robot development.

Your role involves tuning robot models, developing ROS2 bridges, and calibrating simulation parameters against hardware. Ideal candidates are MSc students with strong Python and C++ skills, and a genuine interest in simulation and physical systems.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We're looking for a motivated Robot Simulation Intern (ideally 6 months, mandatory internship) to join our Robotics team in Schönaich (close to Stuttgart), with a flexible start date. If you're excited about building physics-accurate robot models and closing the loop between simulation and real hardware — this is where your work makes a direct impact on humanoid robot development.

HERE'S WHERE YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

• Import and tune robot models for MuJoCo and Isaac Sim — making sure the simulated robot behaves as close to the physical one as possible
• Build ROS2 simulator bridges, including ros2_control sim backends and topic bridging, to connect simulation and real-world control stacks
• Calibrate contact and friction parameters against hardware measurements — the detail work that makes simulation physically meaningful rather than just visually convincing
• Set up RL training environments using Stable Baselines3 or similar frameworks, enabling motion policy evaluation before hardware is available

WHO YOU ARE

• Enrolled MSc student in Robotics, Computer Science, or Engineering — with a genuine interest in the intersection of simulation and physical systems
• Strong Python skills, with working knowledge of C++ for performance‑critical parts
• You've worked with MuJoCo and/or Isaac Sim (Omniverse/USD) and know what it takes to get a model behaving realistically
• Comfortable with ROS2 basics; experience with simROS2 integration is a plus
• Familiar with RL fundamentals — enough to understand what a training environment needs to actually be useful
