Synapticon in Schönaich near Stuttgart is seeking a motivated Validation & Testing Intern (6 months, mandatory internship) to join our team. You will work on encoder validation, build and operate testbenches, and validate control algorithms on hardware and in simulation.

You combine mechanical intuition with a foundational understanding of control systems, sensors, and embedded systems, with MATLAB/Simulink and Python as valuable tools. A flexible start date and hands-on learning await.

Qualifications

• Enrolled BSc/MSc student in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related field.
• Hands-on machining experience and mechanical intuition.
• Basic understanding of control systems, sensors and embedded systems.
• Experience with MATLAB/Simulink and Python is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform performance validation and quality control of integrated encoder systems.
• Design, build, and operate testbenches for hardware and control algorithm validation.
• Validate model-based control algorithms in simulation and on hardware using rapid prototyping systems.
• Support motion control feature development and system-level validation.
• Analyse test data and document results to guide engineering decisions.

Job description

We’re looking for a motivated Validation & Testing Intern (ideally 6 months, mandatory internship) to join our Validation & Testing team in Schönaich (close to Stuttgart), with a flexible start date. If you want to see how real motion control systems perform outside of simulation — from encoder accuracy to model-based control algorithms on rapid prototyping hardware — this internship puts you right at the heart of our development process.

HERE'S WHERE YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

Perform performance validation and quality control of integrated encoder systems — the measurements that tell us whether a product delivers the precision it promises

Design, build, and operate testbenches for hardware and control algorithm validation, creating the setups that turn open questions into reliable data

Validate model-based control algorithms in simulation and on hardware using rapid control prototyping systems (e.g., Speedgoat), closing the gap between model and real-world behaviour

Support motion control feature development and system-level product validation — making sure new functions work as intended before they reach customers

Analyse test data and document results clearly, providing the basis for development decisions across hardware, firmware, and control teams

WHO YOU ARE

Enrolled BSc/MSc student in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, or a related field

Good mechanical intuition and hands-on machining experience — you’re comfortable building and adjusting your own test setups

Basic understanding of control systems, sensors, and embedded systems, and genuine interest in how they perform under real conditions

Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, Python, or similar simulation tools is a plus

You work in a structured, detail-oriented way and enjoy spending time in the lab
