Job summary

Evident Europe GmbH is seeking a Spinning Disk Confocal Specialist to drive sales of advanced life science microscopy in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Eastern Central Europe. You will work with European sales teams, present our portfolio, and conduct on-site and remote demonstrations to solve customer needs.

The role requires a degree in biology/chemistry/biotech or engineering, 3–5 years in spinning disk confocal tech, and proven ability to train distributors and compete effectively.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology or Engineering or related field (PhD valued).
  • 3–5 years in spinning disk confocal tech in core facility or field sales.
  • Experience operating/selling complex software-controlled microscope systems.
  • Strong optics and multimodal imaging knowledge (Spinning Disk, TIRF, FRAP, etc.).
  • Knowledge of confocal microscopy, super-resolution, live-cell imaging.
  • Network in confocal microscopy community with facilities & key opinion leaders.
  • Ability to support direct and indirect sales, including training distribution partners.
  • Understanding of market trends and transferring to sales activity.
  • Knowledge of competitive evaluations and head-to-head demonstrations.
  • Understanding of research funding and public tenders in the DACH region; influence specs.

Responsibilities

  • Support direct sales team and distributors in driving the sales process for spinning disk confocal solutions in your territory.
  • Develop distribution partners with joint customer visits, demonstrations and product training.
  • Enable partners to position systems competitively; hold regular joint pipeline reviews.
  • Manage all customer touch points during the sales process; travel ~60% within territory.
  • Collaborate with senior sales specialists and other sales and application specialists in Europe.
  • Provide help to colleagues across EMEA as needed.
  • Conduct lectures and training at customer events.
  • Participate in local exhibitions.
  • Observe market trends and plan actions to increase market share.
  • Position systems against competing platforms in evaluations to win opportunities.
  • Track competitor products, pricing and wins/losses; share insights with teams.
  • Gather best-practice cases and share knowledge within the sales team.
  • Support Marketing in collecting testimonials, images and notes from customers.

Your responsibilities

The Spinning Disk Confocal Specialist role requires that you work closely together with the European Life Science Sales Teams (Territory Managers and Senior Sales Specialists). You are responsible for supporting the direct sales team and distributors in driving the sales process for our spinning disk confocal systems, alongside other high-end life science microscopy systems, in your territory (primarily Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Eastern Central Europe), covering both direct and indirect sales. During the sales process you will have meetings with customers to present our product portfolio, and you will organize and perform in a convincing way onsite system demonstrations as well as remote demonstrations, providing your expert knowledge to solve customers’ applications and issues. The product portfolio mainly consists of confocal laser scanning microscopes, spinning disk and TIRF microscopes, slide scanners and SMLM systems.

You are responsible for achieving the agreed sales target for your products and territory as well as a team target. As a Spinning Disk Confocal Specialist for Advanced Life Science Systems, you are - together with Sales Management - responsible for observing market trends and proposing and developing strategic sales activities to further develop our business and success in the market.

  • Due to the territory, you will be responsible for, you ideally live in Germany or Austria, with good connection possibilities to highways, train stations and airports.

  • Class B driver's license is mandatory.

  • Home Office based worker.

The following activities – among others – will help you to achieve your goals:

  • Supporting the direct sales team and distribution partners in driving the sales process for our spinning disk confocal solutions in your territory.

  • Supporting and developing distribution partners in your territory, including joint customer visits, demonstrations and product training.

  • Enabling distribution partners to position our systems competitively, and holding regular joint pipeline reviews with them and the direct sales team.

  • Managing, organizing and conducting all customer touch points during the sales process (incl. for example customer meetings, system demonstrations, workshops, closing meetings etc.). You will be travelling approximately 60% of your time, primarily within your territory.

  • Cooperating in a very close way with senior sales specialists and other sales and application specialists in Europe, especially for your demo and workshop activities.

  • Providing help to colleagues outside your territory, including opportunities across EMEA, depending on your expertise and business needs.

  • Conducting lectures and training at customer events.

  • Participating in local exhibitions.

  • Observing and analyzing the market and deducting an action plan for your territory with the goal to increase market share.

  • Positioning our systems against competing platforms in customer evaluations and head-to-head demonstrations, with the aim of winning competitive opportunities.

  • Tracking competitor products, pricing and customer wins and losses, and feeding these insights back to Sales Management, Marketing and Product Management.

  • Gather best-practice cases and actively share experiences and knowledge within the Advanced Life Science Systems sales team.

  • Supporting the Marketing team and Sales Management in collecting testimonials, image materials, application notes, etc. from your customers, and using them as proof points to show where our systems outperform the competition.

Your qualification
  • University degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biotechnology /Engineering or similar is an advantage. A higher degree (e.g. PhD) or a background in scientific research using spinning disk confocal or comparable imaging technologies is also highly valued.

  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ professional experience in a specialist role using spinning disk confocal technology, either in a core facility supporting multiple users or in a field sales or applications role.

  • Several years of experience in operating and/or selling complex, software-controlled microscope systems; experience in systems integration is an advantage.

  • Excellent technical understanding of optics, optical instruments and applications, with hands-on experience of multimodal imaging technologies (e.g. Spinning Disk Confocal Imaging, TIRF, FRAP, Photoactivation, Superresolution).

  • Good understanding of biological applications in the high-end spinning disk confocal imaging field, with a broader knowledge of confocal microscopy, super-resolution microscopy and live cell imaging.

  • Established network in the confocal microscopy community, including credibility with core facility managers and key opinion leaders who influence purchasing decisions

  • Ability to support both direct and indirect sales channels, including training and enabling distribution partners to position our systems competitively.

  • Capable of identifying and understanding market trends and demands and transferring them into operational sales activities.

  • Working knowledge of competing spinning disk and confocal platforms, and the ability to position our systems against them on technical and application grounds.

  • Deep appreciation of how competitive evaluations are won, gained either through a track record of winning them in a sales or applications role (e.g. head-to-head demonstrations and benchmark studies), or through direct involvement in them as an influencer or decision-maker in an instrument purchase, for example in a core facility.

  • Understanding of research funding and public tender processes in the DACH region, and the ability to influence specifications and evaluation criteria at an early stage.

  • Fluent German and English (spoken and written); additional languages are an advantage
