Job summary
Attocube Systems AG in Munich is seeking an experienced Scanning Probe Microscope Expert to own the signal chain from sensor to data, design high‑performance measurement modes, data streams, and performance evaluations. The role focuses on FPGA‑based processing, advanced signal detection, and robust, scalable implementations.
You will collaborate with system, software, and electronics teams to translate concepts into real solutions, develop closed‑loop control, and prototype measurement schemes
Qualifications
- PhD or master’s degree in physics, control engineering or a related field
- Several years of experience in the development of SPM
- In-depth knowledge of Scanning Probe Microscopy and their control electronics
- Preferable experience with optics and lasers
- Deep technical knowledge on control engineering, microscopy, electronics and software
- Ability to explain complex technological concepts and translate them into specifications
Responsibilities
- Conceptualize and prototype hardware and firmware solutions for measurement modes for microscopy
- Develop and optimize closed-loop control systems (e.g. PLL, lock-in detection, feedback loops) for high-precision measurements
- Specify, evaluate, and integrate key electronic components (A/D, D/A, amplifiers, drivers, detectors) with a focus on signal integrity and noise performance
- Understand novel measurement schemes in the scientific community or from customer and bring them to implementation
- Executing Proof-of-concept studies and bringing them until implementation in customized system or production
- Build and validate laboratory setups and prototypes, including hands‑on testing, debugging, and iterative optimization
- Collaborate closely with system, software, and electronics teams to translate concepts into robust, scalable solutions
