Job summary

Freudenberg Group in Hamburg is seeking a senior software lead responsible for developing Application Software (ASW) and Basic Software (BSW) for a Smart Leveling System ECU, guiding the project from kickoff to series release, and providing technical leadership to the software team and external partners.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering or related technical discipline.
• Proven experience leading software development teams and managing suppliers or engineering service providers, preferably in automotive.
• Hands-on embedded software development experience, preferably for automotive applications.
• Strong knowledge of Functional Safety (ISO 26262), Cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434), and ASPICE.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and automated testing environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of Application Software (ASW) and Basic Software (BSW) for a Smart Leveling System ECU across the full project lifecycle.
• Provide technical leadership to the software team and coordinate external development partners and suppliers.
• Manage supplier performance and conduct supplier monitoring per ASPICE processes.
• Define, maintain and approve software architecture and interfaces aligned with safety and cybersecurity requirements.
• Drive software integration, verification, validation and production release activities.
• Establish and operate an end-to-end software development environment for embedded automotive applications, including automated build, integration and test frameworks.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, safety, cybersecurity and validation teams to ensure successful product delivery.
• Support development and integration of Complex Device Drivers within AUTOSAR Basic Software and hardware platform.

• You lead the development of Application Software (ASW) and Basic Software (BSW) for a Smart Leveling System ECU throughout the entire project lifecycle, from project launch to series production release.
• You provide technical leadership to the software development team and coordinate external development partners and suppliers.
• You manage supplier performance and execute supplier monitoring activities in accordance with Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) processes.
• You define, maintain, and approve the overall software architecture and software interfaces, ensuring alignment with system, functional safety, and cybersecurity requirements.
• You drive software integration, debugging, verification, validation, and production release activities.
• You establish and operate an end-to-end software development environment for embedded automotive applications, including automated build, integration, and test frameworks.
• You collaborate closely with systems, hardware, functional safety, cybersecurity, and validation teams to ensure successful product delivery.
• You support the development and integration of Complex Device Drivers (CDD) within the AUTOSAR Basic Software and hardware platform.

Qualifications:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering , Computer Science , Automotive Engineering , or a related technical discipline.
• Proven experience leading software development teams and managing suppliers or engineering service providers, preferably within the automotive industry.
• Several years of hands-on experience in embedded software development, preferably for automotive applications.
• Strong knowledge of Functional Safety (ISO 26262), Cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434), and Automotive SPICE (ASPICE).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines , software build automation, and automated testing environments.
• Solid understanding of embedded software architectures and software integration processes.
• Experience with suspension, air suspension, chassis control, or comparable automotive ECUs is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of Embedded C , AUTOSAR , and automotive microcontrollers such as Infineon AURIX or NXP devices is an advantage.
• Fluent German (minimum C1 ) and strong English communication skills (minimum B2 ), both written and spoken.
