Hygi.de GmbH & Co. KG is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, AI Initiatives, to develop and implement AI solutions that improve business processes. You will identify valuable use cases, shape them into technical solutions, and drive them from concept to production within a fast-growing e-commerce context.

You will design scalable architectures, ensure quality, security, and monitoring, and evaluate emerging AI tech for practical contribution across ERP, WMS, and BI platforms.

About The Role

As a Senior Software Engineer, AI Initiatives, you will develop and implement AI solutions that deliver practical improvements to business processes. Working closely with business teams and technical colleagues, you will identify valuable use cases, shape them into effective technical solutions, and guide them from initial concept through to production.

This role combines software engineering, artificial intelligence, and a strong understanding of business processes. You will create scalable solutions that integrate with Hygi.de’s existing systems and support them throughout their lifecycle. Quality, security, data protection, monitoring, and reliable operation are essential parts of your approach. You will also help assess emerging AI technologies and determine where they can make a meaningful contribution to the organization.

Qualifications

You bring several years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer, including a proven track record of developing, introducing, and operating larger business-critical systems. Experience in e‑commerce is an advantage. You have strong knowledge of service‑oriented architectures, REST APIs, system integrations, containerization, CI/CD, and monitoring.

You have practical experience with AI‑assisted software development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot, as well as hands‑on experience with LLM‑based solutions, including retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), agents, or tool integrations. You apply sound technical judgment, work pragmatically, and maintain high quality standards. You understand where AI can support a process and where human judgment remains essential.

You can explain complex technical topics clearly and connect technical decisions to business requirements. Experience with PHP and Laravel or Python is an advantage. The current technology environment includes PHP, Laravel, Angular, TypeScript, MySQL, Redis, REST APIs, Docker Swarm, Jenkins, Git, Jira, and Confluence.

Responsibilities

You will advance AI initiatives across the business, guiding projects from early ideas to dependable production solutions. You will develop technical concepts and robust architectures, then independently turn them into working software. You will integrate AI solutions with systems across ERP, warehouse management, e‑commerce, logistics, and BI and data platforms.

You will use AI‑powered and agentic tools in your development work and help establish modern engineering practices. You will take responsibility for testing, software quality, security, data protection, monitoring, and reliable operation throughout the solution lifecycle. Collaboration is central to the role: you will work with Business Systems, DevOps and Platform, BI and Data, business teams, and external partners. You will also stay informed about new AI technologies and evaluate them pragmatically against the company’s processes and systems.
