Job summary

Infineon Technologies AG in Germany seeks a Senior Staff Engineer Automation & Digitalization for IP Development within our R&D team. You will drive automation strategies, manage backlogs in an Agile setting, and deliver scalable tools to accelerate IC layout development and design-system integration.

You will collaborate across layout, CAD, and technology teams to translate complex requirements into robust workflows and reusable software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in semiconductor design automation, layout automation, custom layout development, CAD engineering, or related semiconductor disciplines.
• Strong programming expertise in Python; experience with Perl, Tcl, and shell scripting is an advantage.
• Good understanding of semiconductor technologies, custom layout methodologies, and IC development flows.
• Experience with EDA tools and automation frameworks in semiconductor environments.
• Ability to bridge semiconductor domain knowledge and software engineering to deliver practical and impactful solutions.
• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and modern software engineering practices.

Responsibilities

• Drive the automation and digitalization strategy for I/O library development.
• Own and prioritize the technical backlog in an Agile environment, ensuring alignment with technology roadmaps, project milestones, and business objectives.
• Define, develop, and deploy scalable automation solutions that improve layout development efficiency, design quality, and engineering productivity.
• Collaborate with layout, design, CAD, and technology teams to translate requirements into robust automation workflows.
• Develop software tools and automated processes to support library development, design-system integration, validation, and release activities.
• Analyze engineering challenges and transform them into scalable, maintainable software solutions.
• Integrate new methodologies, tools, and technologies into existing IC design environments.
• Drive continuous improvement by reducing manual effort, increasing standardization, and improving development scalability.
• Ensure high standards of software quality through testing, CI/CD practices, documentation, and maintainable architecture.
• Support release readiness through planning, validation, monitoring, and risk assessment.
• Act as a technical leader and partner, influencing automation roadmaps and best practices.

• Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and modern software engineering practices
