Jobtailor is seeking a senior full-stack engineer in Germany to shape technical direction for the Essentials squad. You will stay hands-on with Ruby on Rails, React, and TypeScript while mentoring teammates and driving architectural decisions.

Responsibilities include crafting scalable APIs, optimizing data flows, and delivering high-quality front-end experiences. You’ll collaborate with product, design, and QA in a distributed, semi-virtual environment.

• Shape technical direction on the Essentials squad, contribute to architecture decisions, and unblock teammates while remaining hands-on in Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, and React
• Write clean, maintainable, refactor-friendly code
• Elevate code quality through code review and pairing
• Design and optimize back-end systems, APIs, and data flows for performance and reliability

• Work across relational databases such as Postgres and MySQL, writing efficient SQL and shaping data models

• Use AI-assisted engineering tools, contribute to shared prompts and agentic workflows, and help the team learn effective practices
• Identify and prototype LLM and automation opportunities for engineering and internal workflows with appropriate healthcare-data and regulated-billing guardrails

Requirements

• At least 7-10 years of full-stack development experience, with Ruby on Rails as a core strength
• Experience with React; 5+ years preferred
• Experience leading projects end-to-end
• Passion for mentoring and guiding architectural decisions
• Daily, hands-on fluency with AI development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot
• Experience or strong demonstrated interest in building with LLM APIs, including prompt design, evaluation, and safety considerations for sensitive data
• Highly organized with superb attention to detail
• Strong project management skills, including planning, estimation, and scoping
• Ability to work in an ever-changing environment and make independent decisions
• Ability to produce quality materials within tight timeframes while managing several projects
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing
• Sound judgment and ability to work successfully with all employee levels
• Comfortable working in a distributed, semi-virtual environment
• Capable of creating and executing technical direction and tasks for yourself and others
