ALTEN, a leading engineering service provider, seeks an embedded software engineer in Bayern to develop C code for flight control in a DO-178C environment. You will manage design, verification, and traceability from HLRs to tests, using UML/Rhapsody/EA, DOORS, and testing tools.

A security clearance (Level Ü2) is a plus, English proficiency required, German a plus. Responsibilities include debugging, integration, QA support, and collaboration across engineering teams.

Qualifikationen

• Degree in aerospace engineering or software engineering or equivalent
• Strong experience in Embedded C development across the full V-cycle
• Knowledge of DO-178C, traceability and software verification principles
• Hands-on expertise in software design and unit testing tools
• Experience with RTOS is a plus

YOU…

• develop embedded software in C for Flight Control functions
• work across the full V-cycle in a DO-178C environment (requirements, design, implementation, verification)
• derive LLRs from HLRs and ensure full traceability (HLR → LLR → code → tests)
• contribute from detailed design (UML, Rhapsody, Enterprise Architect) to implementation and verification
• create, review, and execute unit, developer, and software tests (requirements-based testing)
• assess verification evidence and ensure DO-178C compliance (SW Assurance & QA activities)
• perform debugging and integration testing using tools like Trace32 / Lauterbach
• support QA audits, process compliance checks, and static code analysis

Qualifications

YOU…

• hold a completed degree in aerospace engineering, software engineering or a comparable technical qualification
• have strong experience in Embedded C development across the full V-cycle, a plus are C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink, preferred in the aerospace sector
• have hands-on expertise in:
• Software design (UML, Rhapsody, Enterprise Architect)
• Unit testing (e.g., VectorCAST or equivalent)
• Requirements engineering (DOORS)
• Debugging & integration (Trace32, Lauterbach or similar)
• have solid knowledge of DO-178C, traceability, and software verification principles
• are experienced in Software Assurance & Quality Assurance processes
• have experience with these tools: DOORS, Git, Jenkins, VectorCAST/LDRA, Polyspace/Coverity, Jira, Astrée
• know FMS/FMC, Flight Control Systems, ARINC standards, DAL levels, certification processes in aerospace
• have experience with RTOS (real-time operating systems), ideally
• are prepared to undergo an enhanced security clearance (Level Ü2 under the Security Clearance Act). A successfully completed and current Level Ü2 security clearance is an advantage
• are a professional user of English, German skills are a plus
