Amadeus Leisure IT in Germany is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to help build and evolve travel technology platforms used by millions of users worldwide. You will blend hands-on development with architecture thinking, mentoring, and process improvement to shape our engineering culture.

Your Mission

As a Software Development Engineer (Senior Level), you will contribute to building and enhancing travel technology platforms used globally. You’ll combine hand-on development with architecture thinking, mentorship, and process improvement, while helping to define the future of our engineering culture. In this role, you’ll

Software Engineering & Delivery

Translate business and technical needs into scalable, user-centered software solutions. Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-grade applications. Conduct technical assessments and recommend practical options for implementation. Deliver quality software aligned with our engineering principles. Support the full software lifecycle—from design to continuous improvement.

Architecture & Modernization

Collaborate on architectural design and technical roadmaps. Contribute to modernization initiatives for existing platforms and services. Identify opportunities to simplify and optimize system design. Foster scalable, maintainable, and reliable solutions. Share technical insights across teams.

APIs, Integrations & Platform Development

Design and evolve APIs and integration services. Participate in projects related to booking flows, partner connectivity, and distributed systems. Contribute to cross-team initiatives and platform improvements that impact customers globally.

AI, Automation & Engineering Growth

Explore and integrate AI-assisted engineering tools where valuable. Collaborate on automation and efficiency initiatives. Evaluate emerging technologies and build knowledge across the organization. Encourage modern development practices such as continuous integration, observability, and cloud-native design.

Mentoring & Collaboration

Foster peer-to-peer learning and support across teams. Encourage knowledge sharing and inclusive collaboration. Contribute to organizational initiatives that strengthen technical culture.

Your Profile

Experience

• Experience designing and building large-scale or enterprise systems.
• Background in developing technical solutions within product-focused teams.
• Exposure to system architecture and collaborative design.
• Experience designing APIs and system integrations.
• Familiarity with Agile or similar software development methodologies.
• Comfort in balancing independent work and team collaboration.

Technical Skills

• Backend or full-stack engineering expertise.
• Understanding of modern architecture principles and distributed systems.
• Experience with automated testing, continuous integration, and operational excellence.
• Familiarity with cloud-native technologies is an advantage.
• Interest in AI-assisted engineering practices and automation.
