You will work autonomously across the stack, making pragmatic engineering decisions that deliver meaningful customer value. At countX, you’ll be trusted to identify opportunities, define solutions, and bring them to life.

Qualifikationen

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience in fullstack and/or backend development.
• Demonstrated strength in system design thinking with attention to scale and trade-offs.
• Strong infrastructural thinking for production deployment, observability, and reliability.
• Hands-on usage of Claude Code and AI-assisted development workflows.
• Track record of working autonomously with minimal supervision.
• Language- and platform-agnostic ability to adapt to problems.

countX is a Berlin-based SaaS company that simplifies EU VAT compliance for e-commerce businesses. Our platform automates VAT registration, reporting, and compliance processes, enabling online merchants to expand across Europe with less administrative effort and lower compliance risk.

We are looking for a Senior Product Engineer to own features end-to-end—from problem discovery and system design to implementation, deployment, and continuous improvement. You will work autonomously across the stack, making pragmatic engineering decisions that deliver meaningful customer value. At countX, you won’t be handed a backlog of predefined tickets; instead, you’ll be trusted to identify opportunities, define solutions, and bring them to life.

Our engineering team embraces modern AI-assisted development practices and works extensively with Claude Code to accelerate development and improve code quality. Our tech stack includes PHP, TypeScript, Python, Go, and React, and we value engineers who are comfortable working across technologies and choosing the right tool for the problem at hand.

Your Responsibilities

• Own product features end to end - from discovery and design through delivery, monitoring, and iteration
• Make sound system design and architecture decisions, balancing speed, scalability, and maintainability
• Think infrastructurally - understand how your code runs, scales, and fails in production, and design accordingly
• Work autonomously with minimal supervision, setting your own direction and managing your own priorities
• Use Claude Code and modern AI-assisted development workflows to deliver high-quality software faster
• Collaborate with product, design, and other engineers to turn ambiguous problems into shipped solutions
• Raise the engineering bar through pragmatic decisions, clean implementation, and continuous improvement

Your profile

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience , with a strong background in fullstack and/or backend development
• Demonstrated strength in system design thinking - able to reason about trade-offs, boundaries, and scale
• Strong infrastructural thinking - comfortable with how systems are deployed, observed, and operated in production
• Proven, hands-on usage of Claude Code and modern AI-assisted development methodologies
• Track record of working autonomously and delivering with minimal supervision
• Language agnostic - able to pick up and be productive in whatever language a problem calls for
• Platform agnostic - comfortable across backend, frontend, cloud, and tooling as needed
• Strong ownership mindset and a bias toward shipping
• Strong, clear written and verbal communication in English
