The Huawei Automotive Electric Control Technology Laboratory will play an important role in the Huawei Digital Power Business Unit in the advanced electric drive control, architectural development, design and strategic engineering of automotive applications such as drivetrain, DC-AC inverter and fusion driving component, advanced AI/cloud technology, etc. As an employee you will be part of the HUAWEI Automotive R&D Competence Center in Nuremberg.

Senior/Principal Power Electronics R&D Engineer in Automotive field (m/f/d)

Your mission

• Work with internal and external stakeholders to identify and refine needs and formulate system requirements in application domains in Digital Power Business
• Support in technology roadmap development for next generation products in Digital Power product range such as in EV Power train, Motor Control Unit and Battery chargers
• Support in the power package definition and next generation power module technology explore.
• Execute the development of novel Power Conversion architecture and converter typologies
• Lead the parameter design, component layout, prototype build-up and subsequent verification and validation of converter concepts in the R&D laboratories
• Mentor and coach less experienced staff members
• Pitch and defend your ideas and solutions in presentations to the product line

Your areas of expertise

• You hold a university degree (Master/PhD) in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, automotive technology or equivalent with relevant experience in the automotive sector (OEM or Tier 1 supplier)
• Extensive theoretical understanding of basic power electronic converter principles, magnetic component designs, power semiconductor devices and power converter control
• Successful experiences in the product development and release
• Proven hand-on experiences on power converter prototype building and verification
• Proven capability for analysis, design, simulation & verification of key design parameters in power converter technologies, such as power loss analysis, semiconductor selection, magnetic component design, PCB design, modulation techniques etc.
• High level of self-reliance and an autonomous target-oriented work style, “can do” attitude, eager to learn new things and ready to think outside the box
• Occasional travel related to ongoing projects
• You work independent with a minimum of supervision
• You are flexible and keep cool when facing challenges
• Good English language skills in written and spoken (working language)
