Zusammenfassung

Huawei Power Conversion Technology Laboratory is seeking a Senior R&D Engineer to advance dynamic MV power conversion architectures and converter topologies for PV, data centers, EV and more. The role involves prototype development, lab validation, and close collaboration with external institutes.

You will lead cross-disciplinary teams, design high-power topologies, and push for high efficiency, density, and low energy losses in power systems.

Qualifikationen

  • PhD or Master's degree in power electronics, electrical and electronic engineering or a similar R&D field.
  • Proven MV and high-power electronics design experience is required.
  • Hands-on hardware design for multi-level converters and magnetic components.
  • Experience with wide band gap devices and converter modulation & control.
  • Knowledge of MV standards and insulation coordination is desirable.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English; German or other languages is a plus.

  • Design parameter selection, layout, prototype build, and verification of new converter concepts in R&D labs.
  • Collaborate with external institutes and universities on MV power electronics algorithms and architectures.
  • Formulate technology insights related to MV power conversion and related areas.
  • Generate ideas and protect them with IP filings.
  • Mentor cross-disciplinary R&D engineers and drive project goals.

The Power Conversion Technology Laboratory within Huawei’s Ohms Research Center in Nuremberg is responsible for Advanced Digital Power Technology Research, Architecture Evolution Design and Strategic Technology Planning, and plays an important role in the Huawei Digital Power business in the design and development of power converters and control systems for applications such as PV Solar & Battery Energy Storage Field, Data Centers, Electric Vehicle, and Embedded Power Supply.

Join us as a

Senior R&D Engineer in Medium Voltage Power Conversion Systems (m/f/d)
to contribute to the development of our Huawei Power Conversion Technology Laboratory, which plays an important role in designs and develops power converters and control systems for applications such as Photo-Voltaic (PV), Data Center and Critical Power (DCCP), Electric Vehicle (EV), Board Mounted Power Supply (BMP) power ranges from several Watts to Mega Watts, and the most challenging things are high efficiency high density, cost effective and low static power consumption.

Your mission
  • Lead and execute the research and development of novel Power Conversion architecture and converter topologies for future MV Power Conversion Systems.

  • You will conduct the parameter design, component layout, prototype build-up and subsequent verification and validation of novel converter concepts in the R&D laboratories.

  • You will closely collaborate with external R&D Institutes and Universities in developing novel converter and control algorithms for MV power electronic applications relevant to Huawei Digital Power.

  • You will formulate technology insights related to MV power conversion technology.

  • You will generate novel ideas and protect them with IPR fillings.

  • You will lead and mentor cross discipline R&D Engineers.

Your areas of expertise
  • You hold a PhD or Master's degree in the field of power electronics, electrical and electronic engineering or in a similar background in Research & Development

  • You shall possess proven experience in Medium Voltage, high power electronics designs

  • You have hands on experience in hardware design for multi-level converters, magnetic component designs, power semiconductor devices such as wide band gap devices, and power converter modulation & control

  • Good working knowledge of MV standards and practical insulation coordination experience is desirable

  • High level of self-reliance and an autonomous target-oriented work style, “can do” attitude, eager to learn new things and ready to think outside the box

  • You may have occasional travel related to ongoing projects, seminars, conferences etc.

  • You are fluent in written and spoken English, willing to learn German or additional languages are a plus
