Job summary

The Green Recruitment Company is seeking a Senior Originator to lead commercial origination for a growing German BESS portfolio. You will develop route-to-market strategies, assess counterparties and structure deals from initial discussions to signed agreements.

You will build relationships across the German energy market with utilities, traders and other market participants, lead partner selection and contract negotiations, and collaborate with origination, portfolio management and legal teams

About the opportunity

I'm supporting a growing energy storage business as it expands its presence in Germany. The company develops, invests in and operates large scale battery storage across Northern Europe, with an ambitious pipeline of assets.

I'm looking for a Senior Power Originator to help bring this portfolio to market. You'll identify commercial opportunities, structure deals and negotiate the agreements that enable battery flexibility to generate value.

The role

You'll lead commercial origination for a growing German BESS portfolio. This includes developing route to market strategies, assessing potential counterparties and structures, and taking opportunities from initial discussion through to signed agreement.

You'll build relationships across the German energy market, including with utilities, traders, renewable energy businesses, industrial customers, aggregators and other market participants. You'll also lead partner selection, RFPs, contract negotiations and the ongoing commercial management of external trading and route to market partners.

The business works with external trading partners rather than operating its own trading desk. You'll help select and manage those partnerships, while working closely with colleagues in origination, portfolio management, contract implementation and legal.

What you'll bring

• Around 7-12 years' relevant experience in the German energy market
• A background in power origination, route to market, structured energy products or similar commercial work
• A strong understanding of German power markets and their participants
• Experience structuring, negotiating and closing energy contracts
• Confidence leading commercial discussions and managing external counterparties
• Native level German and strong professional English

Experience with BESS or flexibility markets would be an advantage, as would day ahead or intraday market experience. Relevant experience from a utility, energy trader, renewable energy developer, aggregator or asset backed energy business could also be a good fit.
