Type: Full-time
BW ESS is looking for a BESS Asset Manager for Germany to take ownership of the performance, commercial optimisation, and operational management of our German battery energy storage assets.
This role is suited to someone with a blend of technical and commercial experience: a person who understands how utility-scale battery or power assets perform operationally, how they generate value in energy markets, and how to manage contracts, data, counterparties, and regulatory requirements across the full asset lifecycle.
We are especially interested in candidates with experience in utility-scale BESS, renewables, grid infrastructure, power markets, or energy asset management, ideally with exposure to the German energy market.
BW ESS is a global energy storage owner-operator, moving with speed to develop, deliver, and operate market-leading projects.
The business is active in the UK, Australia, Italy, Germany, Spain, and Sweden. It has more than 540MWh of operating Battery Energy Storage Systems, with approximately 12GWh under construction and a development pipeline of several gigawatts.
Part of BW Group, BW ESS builds on decades of global infrastructure experience, takes a long-term view of projects and partnerships, and focuses on unlocking value throughout the energy storage asset lifecycle.
As BESS Asset Manager, you will be responsible for the operational and commercial performance of utility-scale battery assets in the German market, with potential exposure to a wider European portfolio.
You will work across asset performance, route-to-market optimisation, contract management, budgeting, warranty management, regulatory compliance, and site integration. You will collaborate closely with German and international colleagues, RTM providers, optimisers, OEMs, O&M contractors, EPCs, TSOs/DSOs, and other market counterparties.
The role sits at the intersection of technical asset management, commercial optimisation, energy markets, and regulation. You will help ensure BW ESS’s German portfolio is positioned to perform across products such as FCR, aFRR, mFRR, intraday and day-ahead markets, and other relevant flexibility or capacity mechanisms.
We are looking for candidates who can bring both technical credibility and commercial judgement.
This is an opportunity to join a fast-moving global energy storage owner-operator with a long-term ownership strategy and a growing European portfolio. You will play a key role in the success of BW ESS’s German assets, working across the technical, operational, and commercial dimensions of one of Europe’s most important energy storage markets.
If you have the right mix of technical asset knowledge, commercial energy market experience, and German market understanding, we would like to hear from you.
BW ESS is committed to building a high-performing, inclusive team and welcomes applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
