Job summary

Entangled Future in Ulm, Germany, seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to design hardware for advanced research instruments within a fast-growing startup. You will collaborate across systems, electrical, and science teams, owning mechanical trade-offs while shaping design standards and best practices.

You will lead hands-on prototyping, assembly and testing, coordinating with manufacturers and suppliers. Relocation support, stock options, and health benefits are part of a competitive package.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• At least 6 years of industry experience.
• Experience with materials for pharmaceutical or medical devices is a plus.
• Hands-on experience in design, fabrication, assembly and testing.
• Experience defining mechanical engineering standard of work and internal best practices.
• Solid CAD experience with Onshape is a plus.

What you’ll do

• 01 Conceptual work in collaboration with systems, electrical, mechanical engineers. You understand the device concept and are able to derive mechanical requirements.
• 02 You collaborate across disciplines with scientists and engineers but own the trade-offs and detailed mechanical technical decisions.
• 03 Design mechanical parts and subassemblies for research activities, proof‑of‑concept prototypes and in‑house scientific instruments.
• 04 Establish mechanical engineering design standards, documented workflows and guidelines and best practices.
• 05 Work with manufacturers and suppliers to support fabrication and component selection.
• 06 Assemble and test subassemblies and parts.
