Zusammenfassung

Hyundai Motorsport is seeking an Engine Builder for its LMDh project in a high-performance team environment. You will assemble, measure, and optimize V8 race engines used in endurance racing, ensuring strict adherence to build specifications and traceability.

The role requires extensive hands-on experience, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to collaborate across design, development, and dyno teams. International travel to test and race events is expected.

Qualifikationen

  • Completed vocational training in automotive or motorsport mechanics or equivalent qualification.
  • 5+ years in high-performance engine assembly, preferably endurance racing.
  • Strong knowledge of internal combustion engines and related electronics.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools and interpreting drawings.

Aufgaben

  • Assemble race engines (short block and top end) per build specifications.
  • Measure and verify critical engine components with precision tools.
  • Maintain build records, torque logs, clearances and part usage for traceability.
  • Disassemble and inspect engines post-event or post-dyno for wear and life tracking.
  • Collaborate with design, development and dyno teams to improve performance and reliability.
  • Identify assembly/quality issues and contribute to root cause analyses.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the build area to motorsport standards.
  • Support dyno and test operations, including pre-start checks and post-test inspections.
  • Occasional international travel to test or race events for engine support.

Jobbeschreibung

Position Overview:

As an Engine Builder for the LMDh project at Hyundai Motorsport, you will be part of a high-performance team responsible for the assembly, maintenance, and optimization of our V8 engineused in our endurance racing program. This role requires precision, adaptability, and a deep understanding of combustion engines in motorsport environments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble complete race engines (short block and top end) according to defined build specifications, drawings, and procedures.
  • Measure, fit, and verify all critical engine components (bearings, pistons, valves, cams, crankshaft, etc.) using precision instruments.
  • Maintain accurate build records and traceability documentation (torque logs, clearances, serial numbers, parts usage, etc.).
  • Disassemble and inspect engines post-event or post-dyno for wear, damage, and component life tracking.
  • Collaborate with design, development, and dyno teams to support continuous performance and reliability improvements.
  • Identify and report potential assembly or quality issues, contributing to root cause analyses and countermeasures.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the build area in accordance with motorsport standards.
  • Support dyno and test operations (installation, pre-start checks, post-test inspections).
  • Occasionally travel to test or race events to provide engine support (if required).
Required Qualifications:
  • Completed vocational training as an automotive or motorsport mechanic, or equivalent technical qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in high-performance engine assembly, preferably in endurance racing (LMDh, LMP, GT, or F1).
  • Strong knowledge of internal combustion engines and associated electronics.
  • Proficiency in using precision measurement tools and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for race and test events.
Preferred Skills:
  • Comprehensive understanding of internal combustion engine architecture, tolerances, materials, and assembly techniques.
  • Experience with high-precision measuring tools (micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators, torque wrenches, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of component life management, wear analysis, and reliability tracking.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, build specifications, and assembly sheets.
  • High commitment to quality, precision, and process consistency.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a small, focused team.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken); other languages are a plus.
