Owen Daniels is helping a world-leading battery and energy storage manufacturer recruit a Senior Electrical Design Engineer in the Munich area. You will own HV primary and secondary designs for substations, energy storage and renewables projects, with end-to-end responsibility from concept through to site validation.

You will lead protection and automation schemes, perform power system studies, and produce DSG and design documents to IEC/IEEE standards while collaborating with multi-disciplinary

Qualifikationen

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or similar.
• Strong track record in HV electrical design, ideally 110kV+, across substations, renewables or energy storage.
• Solid experience with primary plant (switchgear, transformers, busbars) and secondary systems (protection relays, SCADA, control panels).
• Knowledge of IEC 61850 and digital substation design.

Aufgaben

• Lead electrical primary and secondary design for substations, BESS and renewables up to 110kV+.
• Design protection, control and automation schemes end to end, from concept to detailed design and site validation.
• Run power system studies: load flow, short circuit, stability and protection coordination.
• Produce technical specifications, single line diagrams and design documentation to DIN VDE, IEC and IEEE standards.
• Collaborate with civil, mechanical and project teams to deliver integrated designs on site.
• Act as technical reference point for less experienced engineers in the team.

Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Primary & Secondary Systems) | Greater Munich | On-site | Global Battery & Energy Storage Manufacturer

I am partnering with a world-leading battery and energy storage manufacturer, a Fortune Global 300 business and the number one supplier globally in its category, on the growth of its German engineering function.

They are building out a high-voltage design capability in Munich to support their utility-scale storage and renewables projects across Europe. This is a senior individual contributor seat with genuine technical ownership, not a support role inside a large matrix.

What you will be doing

• Leading electrical primary and secondary design for substations, BESS and renewable generation projects at 110kV and above
• Designing protection, control and automation schemes end to end, from concept through to detailed design and site validation
• Running power system studies: load flow, short circuit, stability and protection coordination
• Producing technical specifications, single line diagrams and design documentation to DIN VDE, IEC and IEEE standards
• Working alongside civil, mechanical and project delivery teams to bring integrated designs to construction
• Acting as a technical reference point for less experienced engineers in the team

What they are looking for

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems or similar
• Solid track record in HV electrical design, ideally 110kV+, across substations, renewables or energy storage
• Strong on primary plant (switchgear, transformers, busbars) and secondary systems (protection relays, SCADA, control panels)
• DIgSILENT PowerFactory and PSCAD/EMTDC are both mandatory
• AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or similar, plus ETAP, SKM or equivalent
• Working knowledge of IEC 61850 and digital substation design
• Fluent English. German is a strong advantage but not a barrier
• Comfortable being on-site in the Greater Munich area
