Job description

We are working alongside our client in the Ag-Tech sector to hire a Senior Digital Agronomist, translating practical expertise in regenerative agriculture into scalable digital tools and recommendations for farmers across temperate European arable systems.

The Client

Our client is a European Ag-Tech start-up helping farmers and food companies make regenerative agriculture scalable and financially rewarding. Their digital platform supports soil health, biodiversity and carbon capture while creating additional income streams for farmers and helping food businesses reduce supply-chain emissions.

Location

Germany based with flexible hybrid working. Frequent on farm travel.

The Role

This is a hands-on agronomy role at the intersection of regenerative farming, farm economics and digital product development. You will own the agronomic logic behind farmer-facing recommendations, working closely with product, design, engineering and modelling colleagues to ensure tools are scientifically sound, practical on farm and commercially relevant.

Responsibilities
  • Own recommendations covering cover crops, tillage transitions, crop rotations and nutrient management.
  • Translate agronomic principles into clear specifications for product and engineering teams.
  • Assess recommendations against soil conditions, location, farmer objectives and practical constraints.
  • Challenge models, assumptions and outputs against field experience and farm economics.
  • Review agronomic datasets, literature and assumptions underpinning digital products.
  • Bring farmers’ needs, available data and adoption barriers into product decisions.
  • Contribute to product priorities based on farmer value, willingness to pay and technical feasibility.
  • Validate tools through farmer interviews, feedback analysis and practical testing.
  • Support expansion into new regions by identifying differences in farming systems.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • 5+ years in farm management, agronomic advisory, farm business consultancy or a comparable role involving responsibility for on-farm decisions.
  • Academic background in agronomy, agricultural sciences or a related discipline, or a strong practical track record.
  • Hands-on experience in temperate European arable systems, including cereals, oilseeds and root crops.
  • Deep understanding of regenerative farming, soil health, nutrient management, rotations, cover crops, tillage and reduced-input systems.
  • Practical farm economics experience, including building investment cases alongside farmers.
  • Sound judgement on what farmers can realistically adopt and what makes changes financially worthwhile.
  • Experience using farm software and an interest in agricultural technology.
  • Confidence working with spreadsheets, performance figures and challenging inconsistent results.
  • Ability to develop ideas and contribute practical solutions.
  • Fluent English and German, including the ability to engage with farmers and review German-language content.
