Zusammenfassung

Agvolution GmbH in Hamburg is seeking a quality assurance professional who understands farming and software. You’ll test what we build, verify agronomic calculations against reference data and German regulations, and help shape what “agronomically correct” means for the team.

As you grow, you’ll own features, translate customer needs into clear specs, and keep the backlog aligned with product, sales, and support. This is remote with flexible hours.

Qualifikationen

Aufgaben

• Write and maintain test cases; run regression tests on staging before release.
• Perform exploratory testing on new features (desktop and mobile).
• Verify agronomic calculations against reference data, lab reports and German regulations (Düngeverordnung, nutrient planning, VDLUFA soil interpretation).
• Validate data imports/exports (Excel, CSV, Shapefile/GeoJSON, machine data).
• Sanity-check sensor, weather and satellite-derived data for plausibility.
• Create reproducible bug tickets; verify fixes; keep test suite in sync.

Jobbeschreibung

We are looking for someone who knows farming and is good with software. You will be the person who catches it when the product gets the agronomy wrong — before a farmer does.

The core of the job is quality assurance: testing what we build, against reality and against regulation. As you grow into the product, you take over feature ownership: shaping vague customer needs into clear, buildable specifications and deciding what “agronomically correct” means for the team.

You do not need to write code. You do need to be curious about software, and you should already be using AI tools in your daily work — we do too, throughout the whole team.

Quality assurance

• Write and maintain test cases; run regression tests on staging before every release
• Do exploratory testing on new features — desktop and mobile app
• Verify agronomic calculations against reference data, lab reports and German legal requirements (Düngeverordnung, nutrient planning, VDLUFA soil interpretation)
• Validate data imports and exports: Excel, CSV, Shapefile/GeoJSON, machine data (e.g. John Deere), soil lab results
• Sanity-check sensor, weather and satellite-derived data for plausibility
• Write reproducible tickets for the bugs you find, verify fixes, and keep the test suite in sync with the product

Feature ownership

• Turn customer and sales feedback into concrete tickets with clear acceptance criteria
• Refine the backlog together with product and the developers; answer the domain questions that come up mid-sprint
• Define what a feature must calculate and display: nutrient balances, crop rotations, growth stages, application windows, yield records
• Keep sales, support and management informed about what is coming and what shipped

What you bring — must have

• Agronomic knowledge — a degree in agronomy, agricultural sciences or plant sciences, or equivalent hands‑on experience on a farm or in advisory work
• Good computer skills — you find your way around web and mobile applications quickly, work comfortably with digital tools, and pick up new software without needing much hand‑holding
• You know how to work with AI — you use tools like Claude or ChatGPT as part of your normal working routine, know how to prompt them well for research, writing and analysis, and have a sense of when to trust the output and when to check it
• Structured, detail-driven working style — you can describe a problem precisely enough that someone else can reproduce it
• Good English, written and spoken (the team’s working language)
• Able to work independently in a remote, distributed team

Good to have

• Previous software testing experience — test cases, tickets, working in a sprint-based team
• GIS basics: QGIS, Shapefiles, GeoJSON, coordinate systems and reprojection
• Plant protection regulations and record‑keeping obligations
• German (B2 or better) — many of our customers, documents and regulations are German
• Knowledge of the German farming system — Düngeverordnung and nutrient planning, ENNI/ENDO documentation, GAP/Antragstellung, typical crop rotations, machinery and farm structures
