Job summary

Blackwave GmbH in Bavaria is seeking a design engineer to create high-precision tools, fixtures and machinery for aerospace manufacturing. You will own concepts from initial sketch to shopfloor-ready production drawings, ensuring ergonomic, manufacturable and cost-efficient solutions.

You will collaborate with Development and Manufacturing, generate GD&T drawings, select materials, and keep projects simple yet robust while maintaining quality and schedule.

Qualifications

• Completed degree or training as a design engineer or related field.
• Several years of hands-on experience designing special-purpose machinery and fixtures.
• Experience with CAD tools; SolidWorks is a plus.
• Knowledge of CNC milling/turning; design for manufacturability.
• Fluent in English and German in workshop and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design production equipment and special-purpose machinery including winding tools for fibre-reinforced plastics and metallic components.
• Generate standard-compliant drawings with GD&T.
• Collaborate with Development and Manufacturing to turn ideas into production-ready tools.
• Own technical quality and manufacturability of designs.
• Select materials based on performance, efficiency, and manufacturability.

YOUR PROFILE

Must-Haves

• Completed degree or training as a design engineer, technical product designer, state-certified technician in mechanical engineering or a related field
• Several years of hands-on experience designing special-purpose machinery, fixtures and tooling, with a strong understanding of day-to-day industrial operations
• Skilled in creating technical drawings and using modern CAD tools. Experience with SolidWorks is a plus
• Familiar with production processes such as CNC machining, including milling and turning, with a strong understanding of design for manufacturability
• Fluent in English and German, both in the workshop and when working with cross-functional teams

Nice to have

• You enjoy solving problems, exploring new technologies and designing elegant, practical solutions
• Familiarity with fibre-reinforced plastics and their processing methods
