Position Summary
Senior Compensation Analyst --- Contract
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Compensation Analyst to join our Corporate HR team on an 8--12 week contract assignment supporting a high-priority compensation project with executive visibility.
This role will lead an enterprise-wide inventory and assessment of field compensation and benefits programs across both union/CBA and non-union environments. The goal is to develop a clear understanding of what programs currently exist, how they are administered across divisions, and why they are in place---while identifying inconsistencies, potential gaps, and opportunities to improve how compensation decisions are made.
This is an ideal opportunity for a strategic, hands-on compensation professional who is comfortable operating at both the big-picture and detailed levels. You will bring structure to fragmented and complex information, work directly with HR and business leaders to uncover data, challenge assumptions, and translate your findings into clear, actionable insights for senior leadership.
The role will have regular visibility with the VP of Total Rewards and other senior leaders and will require someone who can work independently, build relationships quickly, and move a project forward with limited direction.
This position is fully remote, with no travel required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead an end-to-end inventory of field compensation and benefits programs across multiple divisions and operating environments.
- Assess compensation practices for CBA/Union and non-union employees, including base pay, overscale pay, overtime practices, and time-off benefits.
- Investigate how and why compensation practices vary across locations and divisions, including identifying programs or practices that may have evolved through legacy arrangements.
- Partner with HR Business Partners, Construction Managers, Division Controllers, Benefits leaders, and other stakeholders to gather, validate, and reconcile information.
- Develop an effective process for collecting complex compensation and benefits data from multiple sources and systems.
- Identify information gaps, inconsistencies, and potential areas of risk or opportunity, and work collaboratively with stakeholders to resolve them.
- Evaluate how current compensation practices align with business needs and determine where practices may be addressing legitimate business or competitive needs versus legacy processes.
- Organize and document findings in a clear, sustainable format that can ultimately support integration and ongoing management within Workday.
- Translate complex compensation and benefits data into clear, actionable recommendations that support executive decision-making.
- Provide weekly updates to the VP of Total Rewards and key HR leaders, including project progress, findings, roadblocks, and recommended solutions.
- Work independently to prioritize deliverables, solve problems, and keep the project on track within the contract timeframe.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive compensation and benefits experience, with significant hands-on experience leading compensation projects.
- Bachelor's degree required; concentration in Business, Human Resources, Compensation, or a related field preferred. Master's degree is a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of compensation programs, HR processes, policies, and best practices, as well as the relationship between HR technology, processes, and data.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead a complex compensation project from data collection and analysis through documentation and recommendations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate incomplete or fragmented information and determine what questions need to be asked.
- Excellent ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations that influence business and leadership decisions.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels, including senior leadership.
- Comfortable working both strategically and in the details, including getting into the weeds to understand how compensation programs are actually administered.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of project deliverables with minimal oversight.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Workday experience strongly preferred.
- Experience with union/CBA compensation programs is a plus, but not required.
- We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
