Senior Commissions Analyst / Commissions Specialist

Location: Fully Remote (U.S.-based candidates)

Schedule: Full-time with flexibility for early morning and/or evening meetings to support collaboration with international team members

Compensation: $50 to $65/hour

About the Opportunity

Our client is a growing SaaS organization seeking an experienced Senior Commissions Analyst / Commissions Specialist to provide critical support during a maternity leave coverage period. This role is ideal for a seasoned commissions professional who can quickly step into a complex environment, take ownership of the commissions function, and serve as a key resource during an ongoing system implementation.

This position offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally with Accounting, Finance, FP&A, HR, Payroll, Sales Operations, and business leadership while managing commissions programs that directly support organizational growth and performance.

Position Overview

The Senior Commissions Analyst / Commissions Specialist will be responsible for administering commission and bonus programs, ensuring accurate payouts, supporting forecasting and budgeting activities, and serving as the primary administrator and subject matter expert for Xactly. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in sales compensation, financial analysis, and commission systems management, with the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Commission & Bonus Administration

• Calculate and process monthly, quarterly, and annual commission and bonus payouts for domestic and international teams.
• Manage commission programs, including commissions, bonuses, MBOs, and SPIFFs.
• Resolve commission inquiries and payout disputes with accuracy and professionalism.
• Partner with Payroll and HR to ensure timely and accurate disbursement of compensation programs.
• Maintain detailed documentation of commission plans, policies, and procedures.

Xactly Administration & System Management

• Serve as the primary Xactly System Administrator and internal subject matter expert.
• Support the ongoing implementation and optimization of Xactly.
• Configure, maintain, and update compensation plans within Xactly.
• Manage user access, permissions, and system configurations.
• Troubleshoot system issues impacting commission calculations and reporting.
• Coordinate with support teams and stakeholders to ensure system effectiveness.
• Reconcile data between Salesforce, Xactly, and other business systems.

Financial Analysis & Forecasting

• Partner with FP&A to forecast commission expenses and support budgeting activities.
• Perform variance analysis related to commission expenses and payouts.
• Build and enhance commission expense models and reporting tools.
• Conduct scenario modeling to evaluate the financial impact of compensation plan changes.
• Analyze historical trends and business data to support strategic planning.

Cross-Functional Partnership

• Collaborate closely with Accounting, Finance, Sales Operations, HR, Payroll, and leadership teams.
• Support compensation plan design and ensure system readiness for new programs.
• Assist with process improvements, controls, and audit support activities.
• Act as a trusted resource for stakeholders across the organization.

Qualifications

Required

• 3 years of commissions, sales compensation, finance, FP&A, or related experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Xactly, including system administration.
• Experience managing commission calculations, bonus programs, MBOs, and SPIFFs.
• Advanced Excel and Google Sheets skills, including financial modeling and data analysis.
• Experience working with Salesforce and commission reporting tools.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
• Availability to start immediately.
• Flexibility to accommodate periodic meetings outside standard business hours.

Highly Preferred

• Xactly implementation experience.
• Experience within a SaaS or recurring revenue environment.
• NetSuite experience, including journal imports and general ledger reconciliations.
• Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools.
• Knowledge of ASC 606 and variable compensation accounting.
