IP Innovative Power GmbH seeks a Senior Billing Manager to own our end-to-end billing across electricity, heating, cooling, PV and tenant models, PPAs, charging infra, metering and related services.

You will lead process improvements, ensure compliant invoicing, data governance and cross-functional handovers with Finance, Operations, Legal, Sales and external partners.

Qualifikationen

• Degree or relevant professional qualification in business administration, finance, accounting, energy management, economics or a comparable field.
• Several years of experience in billing, energy operations, accounting, revenue operations or a related function.
• Strong knowledge of contract-based billing, master-data management, billing or ERP systems and large data sets.
• Excellent numerical, analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with high accuracy and the ability to manage deadlines, escalations and incomplete information.
• Experience in German Business environment.
• Fluent German and strong professional English.

Aufgaben

• Own the billing process including preparation, verification, invoice issuing and recording of all outgoing invoices.
• Timely issuing of all outgoing invoices according to requirements.
• Coordinate and follow-up on outsourced billing (Gas, Electricity).
• Ensure correct application of prices, tariffs, taxes, levies and metering costs in billing across properties and customers.
• Ensure billing is based on complete data and establish controls against missing or incorrect invoices.
• Translate contract terms into system parameters and coordinate new contracts and price changes.
• Maintain overview of contract dates, terms, price adjustments and milestones; resolve missing information.
• Work with Finance to reconcile billing systems, accounts and receivables; support month-end closures.
• Develop the Billing Department with clear responsibilities and workflows; reduce dependency on individuals.
• Improve end-to-end billing via SOPs, automation and system integration.
• Establish KPIs and provide management reporting and revenue forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with German energy, tax, invoicing and e-invoicing rules.

The Senior Billing Manager owns IP Innovative Power GmbH’s end-to-end billing function across electricity, heating and cooling, photovoltaic and tenant electricity models, PPAs, charging infrastructure, metering and related energy services. The role ensures accurate, complete, timely and compliant invoicing while building scalable processes, reliable data and transparent reporting. It combines operational leadership, energy-sector billing expertise, system and master-data governance, and close cooperation with Finance, Operations, Legal, Sales, Metering, Project Management and external partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the Billing Process which includes: Preparation, verification, invoice issuing, recording of all outgoing invoices (e.g. Heat, Electricity, Photovoltaic (PV) and other services
• Timely issuing of all outgoing invoices according to the specific requirements
• Coordinate and follow-up on outsourced billing process (Gas, Electricity)
• Ensure correct application of prices, tariffs, indexation, fixed charges, taxes, levies, metering costs and contractual adjustments, and accurate allocation of volumes and costs across properties, customers, tenants and contractual parties.
• Ensure billing is based on complete and validated contract, customer, property, meter, tariff, price and consumption data; establish controls against missing, duplicatedor incorrect invoices.
• Translate billing-relevant contract terms into system parameters and coordinate new contracts, amendments, tariff changes, ownership changes and customer onboarding, supported by a structured cross-functional handover process.
• Maintain a central overview of contract start dates, contract terms, price adjustments, notice periods and other relevant milestones; proactively resolve missing or contradictory information.
• (for me this is the part of operations)Work with Finance and Accounting to reconcile billing systems, accounting records, bank payments and customer accounts; support receivables management, disputed invoice resolution and month-, quarter- and year-end closing.
• Develop the Billing Department by defining responsibilities, workflows, service levels and performance expectations; allocate workload, provide technical guidance and reduce dependency on individuals or external providers.
• Optimise end-to-end billing processes through SOPs, checklists, exception reporting, automation and system integration across billing, CRM, ERP, metering and accounting platforms.
• Establish and monitor KPIs such as on-time invoicing, unbilled revenue, billing backlog, error and correction rates, missing meter data, disputes, receivables and onboarding lead time; provide transparent management reporting and revenue forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with contractual requirements and applicable German energy, tax, invoicing, metering, VAT, energy tax, levy and e-invoicing rules; maintain audit-ready documentation and appropriate approval and segregation-of-duties controls.
• Act as the central contact for complex billing topics and communicate clearly with internal stakeholders, customers, property managers, network operators, metering providers, advisers and software partners.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Experience

• Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Odoo)
• Eperience with external billing solutions ( (e.g. QBilling, Solarize or outsourced solutions).
• Experience with process automation, system interfaces, Power BI or Power Automate, audits, closing processes, revenue reconciliation and structured e-invoicing formats.

• All billable services are invoiced completely and on time, while billing errors, correction volumes, unbilled revenue and backlogs are materially reduced and controlled.
• Contractual and meter data are correctly reflected in billing systems, responsibilities and workflows are clearly defined, and management receives dependable billing ,revenue and open receivable reporting.
• Billing processes scale with company growth, knowledge is documented and institutionalised, and customer disputes are resolved quickly and professionally with clear supporting documentation.
