Zusammenfassung

Compass Lexecon is a leading global economic consulting firm advising on regulatory and policy matters across Europe, the energy sector, and beyond. You will perform quantitative energy analyses, contribute to reports, and participate in client meetings while supporting business development across the DACH region.

2–5 years of relevant experience, a Master’s degree in a related field, and fluency in German and English are required; additional European language skills are a plus.

Qualifikationen

  • 2 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in consulting, with regulatory authorities or in energy utilities.
  • Master’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Finance or Statistics from a leading university.
  • Fluency in German and English languages (both spoken and written).
  • Other European languages (particularly French) are desirable.
  • Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills.
  • Experience in energy and particularly power system modelling is a bonus.
  • Working knowledge of statistical packages (R, Stata) or programming languages (Python, VBA, etc.) is a bonus.
  • Commitment to high-quality and accurate work.
  • Strong solution orientation and analytical skills.
  • Good organisational skills and ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

We advise governments, regulators, energy companies, financial investors, and legal counsels on issues spanning: Market design and regulation of electricity, gas and hydrogen markets across the entire value chain; due diligence and IPO support Energy transition strategies, climate policy, carbon markets, and decarbonisation pathways Industrial decarbonisation and industrial competitiveness Valuation of energy assets and investment decisions for utilities, infrastructure funds, and industrials Market and financial modelling Competition and State aid investigations Regulatory and commercial disputes, including arbitration and litigation support Expert support during disputes and arbitrations Our company is global and our EMEA Energy Team focuses on Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Our work combines cutting-edge economic research, deep energy sector expertise with applied market and financial modelling to help clients navigate the rapid transformation of energy systems. Our recent public studies include, among others, a report for Business Europe on European competitiveness in the energy and climate transition, a report for Eurelectric on the evolution of system flexibility needs and the evolving concept of security of supply, a report for Naturgy Foundation on the evolution of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism and a report for the Clean Air Task Force on the deployment of clean power technologies. Due to expansion of our Energy practice in the German-speaking region, we are currently looking for a Consultant or Senior Consultant with several years of professional experience in consulting, with regulatory authorities or with energy utilities. You will work on both quantitative modelling and regulatory issues across the DACH region, and projects all over Europe. You can be located in any of our European offices (i.e. Berlin, Düsseldorf, Paris, Brussels, London and Helsinki) and will continuously work with colleagues in other offices.

Typical duties will include:
  • Quantitative analysis using our energy-specific models and using our energy system modelling platforms.
  • Preparation of reports and summaries of analysis.
  • Active participation in client meetings and conference calls.
  • Participation in our business development efforts.
