Boehringer Ingelheim seeks a Senior Software Engineer for Agentic AI / LLM solutions at the Biberach site. You will design, develop, deploy and operate GenAI agents and multi-agent systems, connecting IT and business needs across CMC.
You will shape governance, contribute to upskilling initiatives, and drive adoption of AI across the organization in a hybrid, flexible work environment.
In everything we do and in everything we say, we strive for the best possible ways to help our business serve our patients.
By putting our colleagues in Drug Development Departments for chemical and biological entities (CMC) at the center of our actions, we jointly identify, develop, and implement innovations that enable faster and better decisions across the overall Boehringer Ingelheim pipeline. With the rapid advent of generative AI, LLMs, and agentic technologies, we have the opportunity to accelerate this dramatically and fundamentally change the way we work. Only very few IT roles offer such a direct connection to Boehringer Ingelheim's scientific value chain.
As our Senior Software Engineer for Agentic AI / LLM solutions, you will help shape the transformation of CMC into the era of generative and agentic AI. You will work hands‑on with and for our business to develop solutions ranging from simple agents to designing and building complex solutions from scratch, while also driving implementation and upskilling initiatives that accelerate the adoption of these technologies across CMC.
In your new role, you will design, develop, deploy, operate, and continuously enhance highly complex and globally distributed GenAI agents, multi‑agent systems, workflow automations, and data integrations
You will develop production‑ready solutions based on modern software engineering, DevOps, and AI‑assisted development practices
Working closely with business stakeholders, you will identify, prioritize, develop, and deliver AI‑based use cases that drive measurable business value while adhering to security, privacy, and Responsible AI standards
You will explore and evaluate the latest GenAI, LLM, and agentic technologies, turning innovative ideas into scalable solutions that accelerate business value and enhance future readiness
You will shape the foundation for scalable AI innovation by defining governance frameworks, operating models, and architectural standards that drive the successful development and continuous improvement of GenAI, LLM, and agent-based solutions.
Act as a trusted advisor and AI ambassador—driving adoption through community building, stakeholder engagement, onboarding initiatives, and targeted upskilling programs across our business and IT partners

Proven experience developing, deploying, and maintaining software solutions in enterprise environments using modern software engineering, containerization, CI/CD, and AI‑assisted development practices.
Proven experience establishing scalable architectural standards, LLMOps practices, and governance structures for GenAI, LLM, and agent‑based solutions.
