Job summary

Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking an Associate Global Category Head to drive the global category strategy across assigned sub-categories. You will lead an international team, optimize external spend, and collaborate with internal partners to meet strategic objectives.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in natural science or business administration with strong knowledge of pharmaceutical R&D processes.
• Long-term experience in managing and establishing complex categories with international team leadership.
• Knowledge of global API & CDMO markets, including modalities like NCEs, ADCs, peptides, sterile fill & finish.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and drive the global category strategy within assigned sub-categories.
• Lead a multi-disciplinary, international team to optimize external spend and drive process innovation.
• Establish effective relationship management with internal business partners to analyze and optimize internal demand.
• Align goals with BI's objectives with the Head of Global Category while monitoring supplier relationships against KPIs.
• Lead and train the team in building mutually beneficial supplier relationships for ongoing performance improvement.
• Potentially lead sourcing projects within Global Category or higher levels across Sourcing Areas.

Tasks & responsibilities

• In your new role, you oversee, drive, and potentially directly manage the implementation of the overarching category strategy in the global sub-category of assigned areas of responsibility
• You bring market knowledge and potential innovations to BI to ensure continuous improvement and competitiveness while leading a multi-disciplinary, international business team to optimize external spend and drive process innovation
• With your expertise, you establish effective relationship management with internal business partners (BPs) to analyze and optimize the use of internal demand
• You are responsible to align goals with BI's overall objectives in collaboration with the Head of Global Category while also monitoring the relationships with key suppliers within assigned Global Sub-category against governance and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• In addition, you will lead and train the team in building mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers for continuous performance improvement or early resolution of potential issues
• Lastly, you potentially lead and drive sourcing projects within the Global Category, Sourcing Area, or higher levels in various Sourcing Areas

Requirements

• Master’s degree or Diploma in natural science or business administration combined with a strong knowledge of pharmaceutical research and development processes
• Long-term experience in managing and establishing complex categories paired with few years of experience in leading international teams.
• Sound knowledge of the global API & C(D)MO market especially for existing and new modalities such as NCE’s, ADC’s, Peptides, Sterile Fill and Finish both for Development and Commercial Pharmaceutical products paired with experience in stakeholder and risk management.
• Open-minded, motivated, persuasive, and perseverant personality with outstanding internal and external relationship management skills
• Willingness to travel (approximately 15% of your working time) and fluency in English; German or additional language skills are an asset
