Job summary

CoachHub GmbH is seeking a Senior Accountant to own German close and end-to-end accounting for CoachHub GmbH. You will report to Head of Group Accounting and partner with AP/AR, FP&A and HR in a lean team, ensuring accurate month-end, tax filings, and audit support.

The role emphasizes proactivity, structure, and process improvements in a fast-moving environment. This position requires fluent German and English, 5+ years of accounting experience, and knowledge of HGB taxes.

Qualifications

The Role

We're looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Accounting team and take end-to-end ownership of accounting for CoachHub GmbH, our German entity.

You’ll report into our Head of Group Accounting, work alongside another Senior Accountant and closely with colleagues across AP/AR, FP&A and HR. Because the team is lean, we’re looking for someone who is comfortable working independently, proactively gets the information they need and enjoys bringing structure and improvements to an evolving environment.

What You’ll Do

• Own the German close. Take responsibility for monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities for CoachHub GmbH, including accruals, provisions, fixed assets, bank and credit card reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and Bundesbank reporting. Prepare monthly and annual financial statements under HGB and support our annual audit.
• Manage tax and compliance. Prepare VAT declarations and recurring tax filings, including reviewing expenses for tax purposes, coordinate year-end documentation and annual tax requirements, and act as a key point of contact for our external tax adviser.
• Connect the dots across Finance. Approve supplier invoices, review and book payroll journals from our external payroll provider, and work with our Finance Operations team on payment processing and control and on creditor and customer reconciliations. Work closely with HR, AP/AR and FP&A to make sure everything needed for closing is complete and accurate, proactively following up on missing information rather than waiting for inputs to arrive.
• Contribute to the wider group. Manage intercompany reconciliations and support the preparation of group financial statements, giving you visibility beyond the German entity and across our international organisation.
• Strengthen how we work. Help improve accounting processes and ways of working. Identify opportunities to simplify or automate recurring work and explore where AI and new tools can meaningfully improve our Accounting function.

What You Bring

• Accounting experience: 5+ years of hands‑on accounting experience, including at least 2 years operating at Senior Accountant level or with comparable end-to-end ownership.
• Closing & compliance expertise: Strong experience with monthly and annual closings, VAT and tax reporting, payroll booking, accruals and provisions, and Bundesbank reporting. Intercompany accounting experience is highly valuable.
• German accounting knowledge: Strong knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and German tax requirements, with experience working directly with external tax advisers.
• Qualifications: A degree or vocational training in accounting, or equivalent long‑standing hands‑on accounting experience. A Bilanzbuchhalter (IHK) qualification is a strong plus; ACCA or CPA are also welcome.
• Languages: Fluent English and German, with the ability to confidently work with German accounting, tax and audit documentation and stakeholders.
• Ownership: You’re comfortable taking responsibility for an entity and working independently in a lean team. You don’t wait for everything to be handed to you - you identify what’s missing and proactively get it.
• Communication: You work effectively across teams and can navigate situations where information isn’t immediately available while keeping communication constructive and professional.
• Accuracy & reliability: You bring a high level of attention to detail, manage deadlines confidently and stay pragmatic and calm when priorities compete.
• Environment: You're comfortable working in a fast‑moving environment where processes continue to evolve. Experience in a start‑up or scale‑up is particularly valuable; exposure to a larger organisation is a plus.
• Continuous improvement: You're naturally curious about better ways of working and interested in how automation, AI and new tools can improve accounting processes.
• Systems: Experience with Workday is a plus.
