Fraunhofer Institute for Telecommunications, Heinrich Hertz Institute HHI is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to explore optical 3D sensing using multicore fiber for 6G applications. You will design and implement an optical sensing unit, adapt LiDAR prototypes, and push the boundaries of MCF-based sensing and real-time DSP.

This position is part of the Marie‑Curie Doctoral Network (EU MSCA project Mobile and Optical Networks for 6G (MONET‑6G)).
You will explore novel optical 3D sensing techniques using multicore fiber (MCF) for 6G. This includes:
