Zusammenfassung

Fraunhofer-HHI in Berlin seeks a student in Communications, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science to contribute to 6G research. You will work on signal processing, LTE/5G PHY/MAC topics and prototype development with simulations and ML techniques to improve latency, reliability and energy efficiency.

The role offers a hybrid work setup with opportunities to work from home and a modern, well-equipped workspace in central Berlin.

Qualifikationen

  • Student enrolled in Communications/Electrical Engineering, CS, or related field at a German university.
  • Basic knowledge of signal processing, communication and LTE/5G PHY/MAC procedures.
  • Some programming knowledge in C++, Python, MATLAB or R.
  • Good communication and teamwork; fluent English.

Aufgaben

  • Research in channel coding, IoT, and low-latency communication.
  • Develop transmission schemes and cross-layer optimisations; contribute to standard bodies for 6G.
  • Implement prototypes using simulations and machine learning to optimise latency, reliability and energy efficiency.

Be part of change

  • Research in the fields of channel coding, Internet of Things (IoT), and low latency communication
  • Development of new transmission schemes, protocols and cross-layer optimisations and support contributions to relevant standardisation bodies for 6G
  • Implementation of prototypes involving simulations and machine learning techniques to optimise for latency, reliability, and energy efficiency

What you contribute

  • You are a student in Communications/Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar fields at a German university
  • Basic knowledge of signal processing, communication and LTE/5G PHY/MAC layer procedures
  • A good understanding of mathematical concepts
  • Basic knowledge in programming, e.g. C++, Python, MATLAB, R
  • Creative thinking and interest for novel technologies
  • Good communication skills and teamwork spirit
  • Excellent spoken and written English

The position is initially limited to 1 year. An extension is explicitly desired.

The monthly working time is 80 hours. This position is also available on a part-time basis.
