Platanus Schule in Berlin seeks an experienced teacher for Geography, History and/or Political Education for the 2027/28 school year, starting 09.08.2027, for Years 5 to 13, with a focus on the upper secondary level.

Depending on the subject combination, part-time or full-time employment is possible. A second state examination (or equivalent), and familiarity with the Berlin curriculum are required. The role supports a bilingual international learning community.

Qualifications

• A second state examination for teaching at secondary levels I and II (Sekundarstufe I and II) or a teaching qualification recognized as equivalent in Berlin.
• For lateral entry applications or applicants with foreign qualifications: a minimum of 2 to 3 years of school teaching experience.
• Familiarity with the Berlin curriculum.

Responsabilités

• Teach Geography, History and/or Political Education/Political Science for Years 5–13, with focus on upper secondary (gymnasiale Oberstufe).
• Subjects can be offered standalone or in combination; part-time or full-time employment is possible depending on subject mix.
• Contribute to engaging extracurricular activities and clubs within an international bilingual environment.

We are looking for an experienced and motivated teacher with German as their working language for the subjects Geography, History and/or Political Education/Political Science for the 2027/28 school year, starting on 09.08.2027 for Years 5 to 13, with a focus on our upper secondary level (gymnasiale Oberstufe).

These subjects can be taught either as a standalone subject or in combination with other subjects, for example German, which is also currently advertised. Depending on the subject combination, part-time or full-time employment is possible.

• A second state examination for teaching at secondary levels I and II (Sekundarstufe I and II) or a teaching qualification recognized as equivalent in Berlin (e.g., first state examination, Master of Education, or a university degree at the master’s level in the relevant subject).
• For lateral entry applications or applicants with foreign qualifications: a minimum of 2 to 3 years of school teaching experience.
• Familiarity with the Berlin curriculum.

Language Requirements

For teachers working in German:

• Native-level proficiency in German or proof of passing a language test at C1 level with a “very good” grade.
• Good English skills to ensure smooth communication within our bilingual school community.
