Job summary

Rocket Factory Augsburg (RFA) seeks a motivated RF Design Engineer (f/m/d) to join its international, agile team. You will design, test, and integrate RF systems for launch vehicles, collaborating across disciplines and applying RCC/IRIG/ECSS standards.

Strong Python/C/C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and English communication are essential. The role offers growth in a dynamic New Space startup with flexible hours, home office one day per week, and opportunities to contribute to Europe’s efficient launch

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in telecommunications/RF/microwave engineering or equivalent
• Strong foundation in digital RF communications theory: modulation, forward error correction, SDR, DSP
• Strong foundation in electromagnetic principles, antenna theory/design, transmission line theory, link margin analysis, electronics/embedded systems, and RF simulation
• Hands-on programming with Python, C, C++, MATLAB/Simulink
• Experience with wireless communications/telemetry systems desirable
• Knowledge of test/troubleshooting equipment: multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analysers, signal generators
• Fluent oral and written English (all activities in English)

About the Team

Our international and agile team is looking for support from a motivated person as a RF Design Engineer (f/m/d). You enjoy working in a dedicated, dynamic and international environment that aims for high-performance engineering solutions in aerospace technology? Then apply for us.

The RF system (telemetry + flight termination) is broad and multidisciplinary, spanning the launch vehicle, ground systems, down-range ground systems, and satellite networks. You therefore need to be a high-performing generalist, who can work independently and autonomously as part of a small team.

Your Tasks

• Design and troubleshoot RF systems based on off-the-shelf components
• Plan and implement qualification and acceptance testing of RF systems
• Test RF systems in the field and/or via analysis and simulation
• Integrate RF components onto the vehicle
• Perform RF-related literature reviews and research
• Become familiar with RF telemetry/flight termination system requirements outlined by the RCC, IRIG, and ECSS standards
• Prepare and maintain engineering documentation with a high standard of detail and accuracy
• Develop and maintain Python scripts used for analysis and test
• Collaborate with other teams across the company

Your Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master study in telecommunications/RF/microwave engineering, electrical/electronics engineering, or an equivalent qualification
• Strong foundation in digital RF communications theory: modulation, forward error correction, software defined radios, and DSP
• Strong foundation in electromagnetic principles, antenna theory/design, transmission line theory, link margin analysis, electronics/embedded systems, and RF simulation
• Hands-on experience with programming languages including Python, C, C++, and MATLAB/Simulink
• Hands-on experience with wireless communications/telemetry systems is desirable
• Knowledge of common test and troubleshooting equipment including multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analysers, and signal generators
• Fluent oral and written English skills (all day-to-day activities are performed in English
