Job summary

T.I.S. GmbH is seeking a Project Engineer for the onshore cable installation scope of two HVDC grid connection projects in the German Baltic Sea region. You will work on the owner’s side for a German transmission system operator and provide technical reviews of the supplier’s onshore installation campaign.

Your assessments will underpin the client’s technical decisions. Remote work with travel in northern Germany and to Berlin (~10%), end of 2026 start, ongoing through Dec 2031, approx.

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical, electrical, offshore or subsea engineering.
• 5+ years in onshore power cable installation projects.
• Experience with cable pulling into ducts.
• 2+ years with a transmission system operator or asset owner on onshore transmission or renewables.
• HV or EHV onshore cable project experience (civil works, installation, testing, commissioning).
• Interfaces between cable systems, substations, permitting and construction experience.
• English at C1 level; German language skills advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical assessments for planning and execution of onshore cable installation.
• Develop installation concepts, interface requirements and implementation approaches.
• Review engineering documents, installation procedures and method statements from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Clarify topics with the cable supplier and other contractors.
• Analyse technical and interface risks and propose mitigations.
• Prepare technical recommendations and decision-support documents for the client.
• Prepare and review technical specifications for cable installation.
• Document technical findings and quality observations.

Your assessments are the basis for the client’s technical decisions.

Your tasks

• Prepare technical assessments and analyses for the planning and execution of onshore cable installation
• Develop and document installation concepts, interface requirements and implementation approaches
• Review engineering documents, installation procedures and method statements from the cable supplier and its subcontractors
• Clarify engineering, execution and interface topics with the cable supplier and other contractors
• Analyse technical and interface risks and propose mitigation measures
• Prepare technical recommendations and decision-support documents for the client
• Prepare and review technical specifications for cable installation
• Document technical findings, quality observations and compliance with standards and permit conditions

What you bring

• Degree in a relevant field, such as mechanical, electrical, offshore or subsea engineering
• At least 5 years of experience in onshore power cable installation projects in a technical, engineering or project execution role
• Demonstrated experience with cable pulling into cable ducts
• At least 2 years working on behalf of a transmission system operator or comparable asset owner on onshore transmission or renewable energy projects
• Experience with high-voltage or extra-high-voltage onshore cable projects, covering civil works, installation, testing and commissioning
• Experience with interfaces between cable systems, substations, permitting and construction
• English at C1 level, written and spoken
• Knowledge of German construction law and permitting procedures. German language skills are a strong advantage.
