Overview

Goethe University Frankfurt am Main invites applications for the position of: Professorship (W3) for Sociology with a Focus on Women’s and Gender Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences. The civil servant or public employee position will start as soon as possible.

Responsibilities
  • Represent a theoretically and empirically sound sociology of gender relations in research and teaching with a strong international reputation in feminist social theory.
  • Take on a leading role at the Cornelia Goethe Centrum.
  • Participate in ongoing and future research projects at Goethe University and in the Rhine-Main Universities (RMU); build upon existing collaborations with institutions such as the Sigmund Freud Institute and the Institute for Social Research.
  • Demonstrate extensive teaching commitment (also in English) across all degree programs of the Faculty, especially in the BA minor Gender Studies.
  • Contribute to internationalization of curricula and courses and engage in teacher training; didactical experience and concepts are welcome.
  • Possess outstanding experience in acquiring third-party funded projects; experience in cooperative research contexts (e.g., SFB, Research Training Groups) is desirable.
  • Participate in the academic self-administration and meet the formal hiring requirements (e.g., habilitation or habilitation equivalent) as defined by Hessisches Hochschulgesetz §67-68.

  • Strong international reputation in feminist social theory and a proven record in sociology of gender relations.
  • Willingness to lead at the Cornelia Goethe Centrum and collaborate across departments and research centers.
  • Proven ability to secure third-party funding and to engage in cooperative research initiatives.
