Development Engineer/Scientist (m/f/d) with a Focus on Additive Manufacturing & Process Development for Dental Medical Devices

Your Responsibilities

Research & Development of Innovative Dental Applications

• Development and implementation of innovative processes for dental 3D printing
• Development, optimization, and verification of 3D printing processes for dental medical devices in collaboration with internal and external partners
• Characterization and evaluation of material and process parameters to ensure product quality
• Literature and patent research to support modern product concepts

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Working in international, cross-site teams comprising R&D, Engineering, Manufacturing, Regulatory Affairs, and Product Management/Marketing
• Preparation of reports, presentations, and technical documentation in both German and English

Regulatory Affairs & Quality Standards

• Planning, execution, and documentation of process verifications and technical investigations in compliance with applicable standards and regulatory requirements, particularly regarding biocompatibility and material properties
• Preparation of technical dossiers for regulatory submissions (FDA, CE/MDR)
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulatory requirements

Project Management & Innovation

• Independent leadership and management of development projects, including resource and timeline management
• Structured problem-solving and continuous product improvement

Process & Quality Optimization

• Optimization of product characteristics and manufacturing processes through Design of Experiments (DoE), experimental investigations, and data-driven analysis
• Participation in risk analyses, validation activities, and quality control processes

What You Bring

• Successfully completed university degree in a scientific or technical discipline (e.g., Engineering, Materials Science, Medical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or Process Engineering)
• Several years of professional experience in product development, ideally within the medical device industry or a comparable regulated technical environment
• Interest in, and ideally initial experience with, additive manufacturing, material characterization, or process development
• Enjoyment of hands-on laboratory work as well as the planning, execution, documentation, and evaluation of experimental studies
• Passion for technology, analytical thinking, and innovation
• Willingness to quickly familiarize yourself with new topics and work in interdisciplinary environments
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, combined with a structured and self-driven way of working
• Excellent German and English language skills, both written and spoken

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with verification and validation activities for medical devices, as well as the associated standards and regulations
• Knowledge of material chemistry for 3D printing processes, particularly photopolymers, is desirable
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements (e.g., MDR, 21 CFR 820, and FDA guidance documents) and dental product standards
