Protecnium in Stade, Germany, seeks a Planner / Civil Works Planning Engineer for a major industrial and civil construction project, onsite 100%.

The role focuses on developing and maintaining Level 4 schedules in Oracle Primavera P6, coordinating with Engineering, Procurement and Construction, and monitoring progress, costs and look-ahead forecasts on a 3-year program.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of relevant professional experience
  • Experience as Planner/Planning Engineer on major projects
  • Advanced Primavera P6 skills required
  • Strong knowledge of CPM, critical path, float and schedule analysis
  • Experience integrating Engineering, Procurement, Materials into Primavera P6
  • English at least B2; German desirable

Protecnium is an international firm specializing in engineering and technical services (www.protecnium.com/en). We are currently looking for a Planner / Civil Works Planning Engineer to join our team for a major industrial and civil construction project in Stade, Germany.

  • Position: Planner / Civil Works Planning Engineer
  • Project: Large-scale industrial facility involving significant civil construction works.
  • Country: Germany
  • City: Stade ( 100% Onsite )
  • Estimated Project Length: 3 years. In general, when the project ends, we try to place the employee on other projects to provide continuity.
  • Start Date: ASAP.
Summary

The Planner will be responsible for the detailed planning, monitoring, analysis and control of civil construction activities, developing and maintaining an integrated Level 4 (L4) schedule using Oracle Primavera P6.

This is a strongly site-oriented Project Controls position. We are looking for a proactive and autonomous professional who goes beyond simply updating schedules and is capable of integrating information from Construction, Engineering, Procurement, Materials, Cost Control, Subcontracts and other project disciplines.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain and update detailed Level 4 schedules in Oracle Primavera P6.
  • Break down the project scope into detailed, measurable and controllable activities.
  • Establish and maintain scheduling logic, activity relationships, calendars, constraints, milestones and critical paths.
  • Translate construction strategies into detailed, realistic and executable schedules.
  • Plan and monitor activities, quantities, resources, materials, costs and required execution dates.
  • Coordinate Engineering deliverables, Procurement activities, material availability and Construction requirements.
  • Perform regular schedule updates incorporating actual physical progress.
  • Monitor construction activities from commencement through completion.
  • Compare actual progress against the approved baseline and current forecast.
  • Identify deviations, delays, productivity issues and potential schedule risks.
  • Monitor planned versus actual quantities and assess remaining durations and completion forecasts.
  • Prepare look-ahead schedules, forecasts and detailed progress reports.
  • Analyse schedule and cost implications arising from changes, delays and variations.
  • Support variation and potential claim assessments, including Time Impact Analysis.
  • Monitor Engineering deliverables, drawings, approvals, Procurement and material constraints affecting construction.
  • Maintain continuous coordination with Construction, Engineering, Procurement, Materials, Cost Control, Quantity Surveying, Subcontractors and Project Management.
Requirements
  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering or an equivalent technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Relevant experience as a Planner, Planning Engineer, Project Controls Engineer or equivalent role on major construction projects.
  • Strong civil construction planning experience.
  • Advanced hands-on knowledge of Oracle Primavera P6 – mandatory.
  • Proven experience developing and managing detailed Level 4 (L4) construction schedules – mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of scheduling logic, CPM, critical path, float, constraints and schedule analysis.
  • Experience measuring and tracking physical construction progress.
  • Ability to read and interpret civil construction drawings and technical documentation.
  • Practical understanding of quantities, productivity rates, construction sequencing and materials.
  • Experience integrating Engineering, Procurement, Materials and Construction information into Primavera P6.
  • Cost Control, variation management, delay analysis and Time Impact Analysis experience will be highly valued.
  • Previous experience in LNG, Oil & Gas, Energy, Petrochemical, industrial plants, EPC or major infrastructure projects will be highly valued.
  • Professional working proficiency in English (minimum B2).
  • German is desirable but not mandatory.
Civil Construction Experience

Candidates must have practical experience in construction and civil works. Experience in the following areas will be particularly valued:

  • Earthworks and excavation.
  • Foundations.
  • Reinforced concrete structures.
  • Underground utilities.
  • Drainage.
  • Roads and paving.
  • Interfaces between civil works, structures and installations.
  • Industrial civil works.
  • Construction sequencing and coordination of work fronts.
Working Hours
  • Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM – 40 hours per week.
