Job summary

Verto People Ltd. in Frankfurt, Germany, seeks a Mechanical Lead with strong background in mechanical construction and subcontractor management to oversee installation packages and site operations.

You will drive project schedules and control package costs from construction through handover. You will lead engineering teams, mentor junior engineers, coordinate with project managers and planning teams, and manage procurement and safety documentation on a large-scale project.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Mechanical Engineer.
• Trade background with a relevant third-level qualification.
• Proven experience coordinating engineering and construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical construction packages, overseeing site operations, installation progress, quality assurance and health and safety requirements.
• Coordinate project schedules with project managers and planning teams to achieve milestones.
• Manage mechanical subcontractors, monitoring workforce levels, site activities and installation quality.
• Oversee package costs including labour, subcontractors, materials, equipment, variations and valuations.
• Coordinate procurement schedules to ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers and support technical coordination and project reporting.
• Attend commercial meetings, change control and progress reporting; identify delays or risks.
• Oversee snagging, O&M manuals, safety documentation, quality files and project handover.

Job description

A Mechanical Lead is required for a large-scale engineering and construction project in Frankfurt, Germany. This position is suited to an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in mechanical construction, subcontractor management and project delivery.

The Mechanical Lead will take responsibility for overseeing mechanical installation packages, managing site operations, coordinating project schedules and controlling package costs from construction through to final handover.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of mechanical construction activities, lead engineering teams, mentor junior engineers and manage subcontractors on a complex engineering project.

• Manage commercial meetings, change control, project progress reports and the identification of construction delays or programme risks.
• Oversee snagging, O&M manuals, safety documentation, quality files, final accounts and project handover.

Mechanical Lead Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years' experience working as a Mechanical Engineer.
• A trade background combined with a relevant third-level qualification.
• Proven experience coordinating engineering and construction projects.
• Experience working with Microsoft Word, Excel, AutoCAD and MS Project.
• Ability and willingness to travel as required.
• Strong understanding of mechanical construction activities, project coordination and site operations.
• A valid EU passport is essential.
• Experience working on large-scale construction projects.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to coordinate engineering teams and subcontractors.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet demanding project deadlines.
