Our client is seeking a highly skilled Freelance Mechanical Design Engineer to support an ongoing development project involving specialised industrial machinery. This role offers full-cycle design responsibility—from initial concept and requirements definition through to prototyping, testing, and production documentation. It’s ideal for an engineer with strong CAD capabilities and a solid background in designing complex mechanical systems.

• Role : Mechanical Design Engineer
• Duration : 8–12 months
• Industry : Specialised Machinery / Equipment Manufacturing
• Rate : Competitive hourly rate in € (negotiable)
• Location : Hybrid (onsite near Hamburg+ remote flexibility)

Key Responsibilities

• Define mechanical design specifications aligned with project goals and performance criteria
• Develop functional and manufacturable designs for machinery components and assemblies
• Lead prototyping efforts, conduct testing, and iterate based on performance feedback
• Create detailed 3D CAD models and production-ready drawings in compliance with industry standards
• Continuously improve existing machinery designs by integrating cost-effective components
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners to ensure design feasibility and quality

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Minimum 3–5 years of experience in mechanical design, ideally within specialised machinery, automation, or industrial equipment
• Proficiency in one or more CAD platforms : SolidWorks, Inventor, Siemens NX, CATIA, or Creo
• Ideally fluent in German and English
