Laborleitung (m/w/d)

Du hast Lust, ein hochmodernes Multimethoden-Labor aufzubauen, innovative Messverfahren wie EEG, Eyetracking oder NIRS zum Leben zu erwecken und damit die psychologische und neurowissenschaftliche Forschung voranzutreiben? Du willst nicht nur maßgeblich ein Labor gestalten und methodisch betreuen, sondern auch wissenschaftlich arbeiten und eigene Beiträge in Forschungsprojekte einbringen, Studierende begleiten und neue experimentelle und methodische Konzepte entwickeln? Dann erwartet dich als Laborleitung bei uns im Departments Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (LiAS) an der UTN eine vielseitige Aufgabe zwischen Laborleitung, Forschung, technischer Innovation und Lehre. Dort arbeitest du eng mit den Forschungsgruppen Cognitive Psychology (Prof. Dr. Magdalena Abel) und Cognitive Neuroscience (Prof. Dr. Charlotte Grosse Wiesmann) zusammen, die kognitive Prozesse, insbesondere des Gedächtnisses, des Lernens und der sozialen Kognition im Kleinkind- und Erwachsenenalter erforschen.

Deine Aufgaben:

• Konzeption, Aufbau und Einrichtung eines Multimethoden-Labors – einschließlich Auswahl und Einrichtung spezialisierter Labor-Hardware (z.B. EEG, Eyetracking, NIRS, Kameratechnik) unter Berücksichtigung wissenschaftlicher Standards für Datenerhebung und -qualität.
• Wissenschaftliche Koordination des Laborbetriebs, einschließlich Abstimmung von Forschungsdesigns, Beratung von Forschenden auf unterschiedlichen Karrierestufen sowie Mitwirkung an interdisziplinären und institutionenübergreifenden Forschungskooperationen.
• Technisches Management und Qualitätssicherung des Labors, inklusive Sicherstellung der Betriebsfähigkeit, Zusammenarbeit mit IT und Verwaltung, Aufsicht über studentische Hilfskräfte sowie Einhaltung gesetzlicher und wissenschaftlicher Vorgaben.
• Aktive Mitwirkung an Forschungsprojekten, Einbringen eigener wissenschaftlicher Ideen, Mitwirkung an Forschungsanträgen und Publikationen, Betreuung empirischer Erhebungen und Durchführung komplexer statistischer Analysen.
• Übernahme von Lehrverantwortung Bereich Statistik, Experimentaldesign und methodische Schulung, inklusive Vorbereitung, Durchführung und Nachbereitung von Lehrveranstaltungen und Tutorien.

Dein Profil:

Erforderlich:

• Ein erfolgreich abgeschlossenes Hochschulstudium auf Master-Niveau in Psychologie, Kognitionswissenschaften, Neurowissenschaften, Bioengineering oder einem verwandten Bereich sowie eine abgeschlossene Promotion in einem einschlägigen Fach
  Oder die Laufbahnbefähigung für die vierte Qualifikationsebene der Fachlaufbahn Bildung und Wissenschaft mit abgeschlossener Promotion in Psychologie, Kognitionswissenschaften, Neurowissenschaften, Bioengineering oder einem verwandten Bereich sowie zweijährige einschlägige Berufserfahrung nach Abschluss der Promotion
• Mehrjährige (mindestens zwei Jahre) Berufserfahrung im Bereich Neurokognitive Forschung und Labortechnik (insbesondere mit EEG, aber auch Erfahrung mit fMRT, Eyetracking, und Verhaltensdaten wären von Vorteil)
• Sehr gute mündliche und schriftliche Ausdrucksfähigkeit in Englisch sowie gute Ausdrucksfähigkeit in Deutsch
• Ausgeprägte Organisations-, Kommunikations- und Teamfähigkeit sowie eine zuverlässige Arbeitsweise
• Eigenverantwortliche und ergebnisorientierte Arbeitsweise, Kommunikationsfreude sowie sicheres und verbindliches Auftreten

Wünschenswert:

• Mehrjährige (mindestens zwei Jahre) praktische Erfahrung in der Leitung eines neurokognitiven/ psychologischen Labors
• Erfahrung in der neurokognitiven Forschung mit Kleinkindern

Laboratory Manager (m/w/d)

Do you not only want to play a major role in building a laboratory and supervising it methodically, but also work scientifically by contributing to research projects, instructing students and developing new experimental concepts? As a laboratory manager at the UTN’s Department of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (LiAS), you can fill a challenging role combining laboratory management, research, technical innovation, and teaching. You will work together with the cognitive psychology (Prof. Dr. Magdalena Abel) and cognitive neuroscience (Prof. Dr. Charlotte Grosse Wiesmann) research groups, who focus on researching cognitive processes, especially of the mind, of learning, and of social cognition in early childhood and adulthood.

Your tasks:

• Designing, setting up and establishing a multi-method laboratory - including selecting and setting up specialized laboratory hardware (e.g. EEG, eye tracking, NIRS, camera technology), taking into account scientific standards for data collection and quality.
• Scientific coordination of laboratory operations, including coordination of research designs, counselling of researchers at different career stages and participation in interdisciplinary and cross-institutional research collaborations.
• Technical management and quality assurance of the laboratory, including ensuring operational capability, collaboration with IT and administration, supervision of student assistants and compliance with legal and scientific requirements.
• Active participation in research projects, contribution of own scientific ideas, contributions to grant applications and publications as well as supervision of empirical surveys and conduct of complex statistical analyses.
• Teaching in statistics, experimental design, and methodological training, including preparation, implementation and follow-up of courses and tutorials.

Your profile:

Required:

• A successfully completed Master's degree in psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, bioengineering or in a related field and a completed doctorate in a relevant subject
  Or qualification for the fourth level of the education and science career path for officials with a doctorate in psychology, cognitive science, neuroscience, bioengineering or a related field and two years of relevant professional experience after completing the doctorate
• Several years (at least two years) of professional experience in the field of neurocognitive laboratory technology and research (EEG, eye tracking, behavioural data)
• Very good oral and written communication skills in English and a good command of German
• Strong organizational, communication and teamwork skills as well as a reliable way of working
• Independent and results-orientated way of working, communication skills and a confident and engaging manner

Desirable:

• Several years (at least two years) of practical experience in the management of a neurocognitive/psychological laboratory
• Experience in neurocognitive studies with toddlers
