MSIG Insurance Europe AG is seeking a Junior Underwriter Marine (m/f/d) to join our Cologne or Hamburg team. You will gain insight into marine insurance and gradually build technical expertise through hands-on tasks and training.

You will support risk assessment, review contracts, and manage data in our systems, while collaborating with underwriting, claims and operations. The role offers clear development toward underwriting in an international environment.

Qualifikationen

Junior Underwriter Marine (m/f/d)

Main tasks

As part of our team, you will gain comprehensive insight into the world of marine insurance and gradually build your technical expertise.

• Support underwriters in risk assessment and quotation preparation
• Review and process insurance documents and contracts
• Maintain and update data in our systems
• Assist with quotations, policy renewals, and endorsements
• Collaborate with the Underwriting, Claims, and Operations teams
• Develop knowledge in assessing risks within the international transportation and logistics environment

As you progress, you will develop towards:

• Analysis and assessment of complex risks
• Support in underwriting decisions
• Development into an Underwriter

Your profile - Professional experience/ personality/ languages/software

• Successfully completed commercial/vocational training or a university degree, ideally with a focus on insurance, logistics, shipping, international trade, or business administration.
• Initial practical experience gained through training, internships, or professional employment in insurance, transportation, logistics, or financial services is considered an advantage.
• Native-level proficiency in German, both written and spoken, is a mandatory requirement for this position.
• Due to the international nature of the business, very good English language skills, both written and spoken, are also required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Strong analytical thinking skills and an interest in economic relationships and risk assessment.
• Structured, detail-oriented, and self-reliant working style, combined with a high level of motivation to learn, initiative, and strong teamwork skills.
