Job summary

DöhlerGroup is seeking a Digitalization/Automation professional to drive shopfloor projects from concept to rollout. You will collaborate with production, engineering, IT, and business stakeholders to identify opportunities and develop scalable digital solutions.

The role emphasizes hands-on coding, AI-assisted prototyping, and ownership of defined work packages in a global manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Automation, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• Practical experience in digitalization, automation, manufacturing IT, or shopfloor projects.
• Hands-on exposure to industrial environments and processes, with coding familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to digital transformation projects on the shopfloor from concept to implementation.
• Identify improvement opportunities in manufacturing processes and translate them into scalable digital solutions.
• Develop, test, validate, and implement prototypes and digital solutions with production, engineering, IT, and business stakeholders.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and pilot initiatives, supporting business cases for investments.
• Leverage AI-supported development approaches to accelerate prototyping and validation.

Job Description

Your Impact in This Role

• Contribute to digital transformation projects on the shopfloor from concept and prototyping through to implementation and rollout
• Identify improvement opportunities in manufacturing processes and translate them into practical, scalable digital solutions
• Develop, test, validate, and implement prototypes and digital solutions in close collaboration with production, engineering, IT, and business stakeholders
• Evaluate emerging technologies and digital tools, contribute to pilot initiatives, and support the preparation of business cases for investment decisions
• Leverage modern AI-supported development approaches to accelerate prototyping, validate ideas quickly, and bring promising concepts into operation
• Take ownership of defined work packages, smaller initiatives, or pilot projects, ensuring structured execution, documentation, and transparent communication
• Support change and adoption by communicating project goals, progress, and results to relevant stakeholders and end users

Qualifications

Your Profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Automation, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
• First practical experience in digitalization, automation, manufacturing IT, industrial engineering, or shopfloor-related projects
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes, shopfloor operations, or industrial environments; hands-on experience is an advantage
• Strong technical affinity with practical coding experience, for example with Python, APIs, IIoT, databases, or similar technologies
• Passion for digital technologies, innovation, and solving real-world industrial challenges
• Proactive mindset with the ability to take ownership of defined tasks, work packages, or smaller projects
• Good communication skills and confidence in working with stakeholders across different functions
• Fluent in English; German language skills are an advantage
