Spencer Ogden is seeking an experienced HSE Manager to support a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Germany through energisation, hot commissioning and testing phases. The role focuses on maintaining HSE standards on site with emphasis on German compliance, electrical safety, PTW and LOTO procedures.

The successful candidate will have prior HSE leadership in electrical infrastructure, substations or renewable energy environments, strong incident reporting and robust documentation

Qualifikationen

• Previous experience as HSE Manager or similar.
• Experience in electrical/energy environments preferred.
• Understanding of electrical safety, energisation and commissioning.
• Experience with PTW, LOTO and isolation procedures.
• BESS or substations, HV/MV experience advantageous.

HSE Manager – BESS / Electrical Commissioning

Project: Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)

Contract: Full-time, site-based

Hours: 40 hours per week

Job Description

We are currently supporting a major energy project in Germany and are looking for an experienced HSE Manager to support a BESS project through the energisation, hot commissioning and testing phases.

The HSE Manager will be responsible for maintaining high standards of health and safety on site, with a particular focus on German HSE compliance, electrical safety, Permit to Work processes and HSE reporting/documentation.

This position would suit an HSE professional with previous experience working within electrical infrastructure, substations, HV/MV, renewable energy, power generation, BESS or electrical commissioning environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day HSE activities and compliance on site.
• Ensure activities are carried out in accordance with relevant German HSE requirements and project procedures.
• Support safe execution of energisation, hot commissioning and testing activities.
• Manage and review HSE documentation, risk assessments and method statements.
• Support Permit to Work (PTW), electrical isolation/consignation and LOTO procedures.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and safety observations.
• Coordinate with electrical, commissioning and project teams to ensure safe execution of works.
• Support incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions.
• Maintain accurate HSE reporting and project documentation.

Candidate Requirements

• Previous experience as an HSE Manager, HSE Lead, HSE Advisor, EHS Manager or similar.
• Experience within an electrical/energy environment is strongly preferred.
• Understanding of electrical safety, energisation and commissioning activities.
• Experience with PTW, LOTO and electrical isolation procedures.
• BESS experience is advantageous but not essential; relevant experience from substations, HV/MV, wind, solar, power generation or similar projects will be considered.
• Strong knowledge of HSE reporting and documentation.
• German and English language capability.
• Able to work full-time on site in Hohenberg-Krusemark.
