METLEN Energy & Metals is seeking an experienced HSE Site Supervisor for a Berlin-based Renewables project. You will oversee health, safety and environmental activities on large Solar PV and BESS sites, ensuring compliance with German legislation and project standards.

You will collaborate with the HSE Country Manager, Project Manager and subcontractors to monitor on-site safety, conduct inspections, and promote a proactive HSE culture across the workforce.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor's degree in health, safety or related field.
• 4+ years in HSE on construction or renewable energy projects.
• Fluent German and good English.
• Knowledge of ISO 45001/14001 desirable.

We are currently looking for a HSE Site Supervisor to join our Renewables team in one of our projects in Berlin.

This is an exciting opportunity to oversee Health, Safety, and Environmental activities on large‑scale Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) projects, ensuring compliance with German HSE legislation and company standards while promoting a strong safety culture on site. Working closely with the HSE Country Manager, Project Manager, Site Engineers, and subcontractors, you will support the implementation of HSE management systems, monitor site compliance, conduct inspections, support incident investigations, and ensure that construction activities are carried out safely and in accordance with company standards, client requirements, and project objectives.

Your role will encompass:

• Support the implementation of the project HSE Plan, Integrated Management System (IMS), and project‑specific HSE requirements
• Monitor compliance with applicable German Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, company procedures, and client requirements
• Conduct regular HSE inspections, site walks, behavioural safety observations, and compliance checks
• Review subcontractor Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) and monitor the implementation of agreed control measures
• Support the preparation and maintenance of project Risk Assessments and HSE documentation
• Identify unsafe conditions and behaviours and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented
• Support the investigation of accidents, incidents, near misses, and environmental events, including follow‑up of corrective actions
• Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, HSE briefings, and safety awareness sessions
• Monitor compliance with site emergency procedures, fire safety arrangements, welfare facilities, signage, and emergency equipment
• Monitor environmental controls, waste management, hazardous substance storage, and pollution prevention measures
• Support subcontractor HSE monitoring and ensure compliance with project HSE requirements
• Maintain HSE inspection records, action trackers, and other site documentation
• Prepare regular HSE reports and provide updates to the HSE Country Manager and Project Manager
• Participate in project and coordination meetings and provide HSE support and advice to site teams
• Promote a positive and proactive HSE culture across the workforce
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and the implementation of HSE best practices on site

What you bring to the role:

• Bachelor's Degree in Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related discipline
• 4+ years of experience in an HSE role within construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, utilities, EPC, or renewable energy projects
• Previous experience on Solar PV, BESS, substations, or other energy infrastructure projects is highly desirable
• Good knowledge of German occupational health and safety legislation and relevant DGUV requirements
• Experience working on live construction sites and monitoring subcontractor HSE performance
• Good knowledge of Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Safe Systems of Work, and Permit‑to‑Work systems
• Experience conducting site inspections, safety observations, audits, and compliance checks
• Experience supporting accident and incident investigations is desirable
• Valid First Aid qualification is desirable
• Knowledge of ISO 45001 and/or ISO 14001 is desirable
• Additional qualifications in fire safety, environmental management, or risk assessment are desirable
• Good communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Fluent German and good English
• Valid EU driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites across Germany
