Job summary

avatea GmbH is seeking a Head of Technical Testing with robust UT/NDT background to lead the Materials Testing division. You will direct both operations and strategy, shaping testing concepts and instructions for customer inquiries and ensuring rigorous quality and safety standards.

You will act as the main interface for customers, suppliers, and internal teams while driving continuous improvement projects and maintaining a structured, solution-oriented approach.

Qualifications

• Formal technical training or degree in a relevant field.
• Extensive UT non-destructive testing experience.
• Leadership experience and client-facing skills.
• Proficient written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Manage operational and strategic direction of the Materials Testing division with a focus on UT.

Job description

We are seeking, on behalf of a successful industrial company in the field of quality and testing technology based in the Ruhr region, a Head of Technical Testing (m/f/d).

What awaits you

• You will be responsible for the operational and strategic management of the Materials Testing division, with a focus on non-destructive testing methods.
• Evaluating technical customer inquiries and developing and refining corresponding testing concepts and work instructions
• Analyzing and evaluating test results, including determining appropriate actions
• Serving as the primary point of contact for customers, suppliers, and internal departments on all testing-related matters
• Initiating and implementing optimization and improvement projects within your area of responsibility
• Ensuring compliance with occupational safety, quality, and environmental standards

What you should bring

• Successful completion of a technical training program or a technical degree, preferably in the fields of materials engineering, materials science, or mechanical engineering
• Several years of experience in non-destructive testing with a focus on ultrasonic testing (UT)
• Leadership experience and a confident demeanor when interacting with customers and colleagues
• Strong communication skills and a structured, solution-oriented approach to work
• Good written and spoken English skills
• Proficiency with MS Office, ideally supplemented by SAP knowledge
• Willingness to work in a structured shift system
