Senior Grid & Electrical Engineer — Solar / Renewable Energy

German speaking is essential for this role.

We are seeking a Senior Grid & Electrical Engineer with strong experience in solar PV and renewable-energy infrastructure for a 12-month freelance project.

You will play a key role in the technical delivery of renewable-energy projects, with responsibility for grid connection, HV/MV infrastructure, electrical design and coordination with grid operators and project stakeholders.

Your responsibilities

• Take technical ownership of grid connection activities for solar projects
• Develop and review MV/HV grid connection concepts
• Coordinate directly with grid operators and technical stakeholders
• Review substation, transformer and switchgear designs
• Review protection and control concepts
• Coordinate electrical engineering activities across project teams
• Review technical documentation, drawings and single-line diagrams
• Support grid studies, compliance and connection approvals
• Coordinate testing, commissioning and energisation
• Identify technical risks and develop practical engineering solutions
• Work closely with EPC contractors, equipment manufacturers and commissioning teams

Your experience

• Strong professional background in power systems / electrical engineering
• Significant experience with solar PV or renewable-energy projects
• Previous responsibility for grid connections, substations or electrical infrastructure
• Strong MV/HV knowledge
• Experience with transformers, switchgear and protection systems
• Experience working with German DSOs/TSOs is highly desirable
• Understanding of German grid connection requirements and applicable technical standards
• Experience taking projects from engineering through to commissioning
• Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills
